Advice Please - Is This Trailer A Good Deal?

I'm looking at my first trailer - I don't know much about the value of these things and the prices seem to be all over on Craigslist. Can you tell me if this is a good deal or not? Just looking for something to haul my bike with.

6x10' flat open trailer.
2003, new tires/wheels, deck, paint
100% road ready, seller has title in hand
He'll throw in motorcycle chock, ratchet straps, wheel chocks, and hitch ball.

He listed at $1000 and offered me $750. Is this a fair deal or is that too high? Pic is below.

You can usually find a new 6x10 for around $800 if you look really hard. That one seems to be in pretty good shape. The stuff he's throwing in really doesn't cost that much so dont let him make you think its worth adding to the price.

 

Don't know what these things are worth either...but Harbor Freight is your friend! They have a lot more...or just put your own plywood deck on.

If there's no Harbor Freight, look for Tractor Supply.

 

It's no amazing deal- but you will be making out pretty good. The extras are nice- but like mac said they aren't all that expensive to get on your own.

There is no way I would attach anything bought at Harbor Freight to the back of my truck and take it out on the road...I've seen to many of their "quality" products fail on jobsites and in garages...

 

To each his own...I've never had a problem with their stuff and wouldn't hesitate to by a trailer from them...just look to your spec's and what you wanna do.

 

you are correct in trailer prices being all over the board. not sure what you are going to be hauling, but the axle weight is important. the bigger the wheels usually the bigger the axle, hard to tell what size those wheels are. my guess is probably 13's. looks pretty clean, $750 seems like a decent deal. 600 sounds like a better deal, especially since there are no sides or tailgate ramp. with no sides you are limited to what you can haul, meaning if you want to haul a load of rock or mulch it would be tough to contain on that trailer. you might not need it for that though.

 

You should check out Leonards Buildings & Trailers on 234 just on the other side of Manassas Mall. They have a pretty good selection of trailers and are great to deal with. I bought a cap from them for my old Mazda B4000 and they beat everyone around them in regards to price.....

 

Thanks for the input guys! Well, as luck would have it I found a 5x8' utility trailer with walls and a ramp for $850. I'm going to take a look at it tonight or tomorrow evening

I'll also look up that trailer place in Manassas!

 

I bought this one today for $750 It was in good condition and is a 3000lb GVWR so it'll haul my bike and an ATV if I get one in the future. I think I got a decent deal. They were going for $1200 at the local trailer shops new and this one is an '08.

I bought a lock set that comes with a lock that slides into the ball receiver on the trailer, another for the latch on the ball receiver, and a locking receiver pin.

I just need to get a chain to wrap it around the tree I've got it parked in front of. Hopefully management won't throw a fit about that.

 

Now that is more like it, much more versatile.
