I also like to use a quick detail type of spray after the wax just to remove any excess wax i missed during the process

x2!...wolfgang has an awesome kit i used on my tacoma. it took a full day then the wax had to set for 12 hours, but the results were amazing! but yeah wash first, claybar, wash again, then use a swirl remover, polish, then wax. that is the ultimate detail.

First off I will state that I have never used the clay bar. Here is how I do it.
    1) I wash and dry the vehicle.
    2) examine the paint condition (by the brail method - If it feels like a piece of sand paper I move on to steps 2 and 3)
    3) Clean paint with a liquid paint cleaner - usually with an orbital buffer and a micro fiber bonnet, but on occassion by hand.
    4) polish paint with a liquid polish - using the same method as above
    5) wax the vehicle by hand with micro fiber applicator and micro fiber rags
I stricktly use Mequires products and have for the last 25 years. On a side note there website has a lot of great info.
The results don't show to well on my silver streak mica taco unless it is night but here are some pics of the result on my wife 10 year old black dodge neon with 85,000 mile that has never been parked in a garage. Note the relections in the paint.
