No pics. I got scared off after this thread. I'm gonna need this truck for a long time. I took it on some back roads and slid around in a field for a bit but didn't get anywhere near stuck. The truck did get pretty muddy. I took a pressure washer to it and then got it washed and I still am finding mud everywhere. I had a fun time but I want to do the diff breather mod and get some tires. The rear leafs are squeaking now, is that the mud? Sorry about not updating I've been away from any Internet access for awhile.

Don't roll your windows down when their muddied up if you can avoid it.

Don't be first through the mud hole.

It's really more smarts than cojones, but both will be required. Too much brain has you avoiding things and being a sissy, too much cojones has you swimming in mud wishing you thought that decision to go in that big mud hole one more time. Where that balance lies is up to you.

    3 things with mud:

    1. When entering your mud hole, don't over think it you're going to need more throttle than brains in there.....:D:eek::D:eek:

    2. When the fun is done, DO NOT waste alot of time , get under that puppy with a power washer, whatever & knock all that shit loose from your under carriage & get a complete lube (nothing dries out grease faster that water) !!

    3. HAVE FUN & TAKE LOTS OF PICS BRO'...........happy trails.....:D:cool:

If your on packed ground and it's just slick on top you can keep it in high 4 and hammer down. If the field has been worked or it's real soft low 4 and low gear. Pay close attention for that moment when your front end sinks down. Don't mash the throttle...I know it's tempting...Just stop and back out of it. Know when to quit. Don't stay on the throttle and let the truck start to hop. Stuff will break !!! Also grease everything afterward. The new grease will push all that dirt out of your u-joints and front end. Have fun!!!

All very good advice... if you want to have real fun, get some M/T's! It's amazing the difference in traction. Try stuff in 2WD, then when you get stuck put in 4HI and stomp it! (4LO is useles in mud) and like Brian said, turn the wheel. The faster your tires go the more likely to clean out, however... stock tires are more likely just to clog up.

That's awesome, have fun. and definitely clean the engine very good (while it's still wet if you can. I have had to replace two of my idler pulleys from having dried mud get down in the bearings and seizing them up. You Play you pay.

Go get one of these (or something similar): and have a few extra bottles of water. It makes the drive home a bit easier. An extra pair of windshield wipers ain't a bad idea either. Seeing Mud Bug's truck reminded me of that.
