Pinstripe Removal (How To)

I did a search on pinstripe removal because the ones on the truck when I bought (used) a couple of months ago were brittle and fading. Plus, they didn't look right with the FJ Special Edition Anthracite wheels.

I found a ton of various methods including a detailing tool that attaches to a drill to take them off but black paint being what it is, I decided not to risk damaging it.

So, I decided to try to remove them this weekend. This method worked out well and looks much better but took a little time (I also took the opportunity to debadge using the fishing line method).

Some areas of the truck were easier to peel off than others. Some areas required scraping where as some areas I was able to peel off in sections from 1/4" to 3-4" before it snapped.

I found that it was best to let the truck rest in the sun for several hours, so it's probably best to do this in the mid afternoon (2 o'clock-ish) but reserve the use of the bug & tar remover until the truck cools down or else you will just smear around the adhesive residue.
