ok, 2 months after getting my new tacoma and 3,300 miles later and Im now getting around to getting a cap for it.

Im getting a Leer with a Thule rack system on top.

Im leaning towards a 100R but I need to see more at the cap store.

Any particular model you favor and why?

I had a 100R on my '07 and now have a 100XL on my '10. Both are great caps and from a functional perspective they are the same but the differences lay in esthetics.....

100R.....Framed glass on sides and rear. Cost is kept down by using a sliding window on each side contained in a rubber gasket frame.

100XL.....Frameless glass flush-mounted on the sides with a thumb wheel that turns out the rearmost pane for ventilation. Single flush-mounted pane on the rear with no frame.

100R...2 Traditional styled "T-handles" on either side of rear glass that are exposed to the elements. There are boots that are available as covers but they have to be removed to access lock mechanism.

100XL...Single lock lever with an integrated hinged cover

100R... slightly boxier design particularily at the rear where the roof meets the back corners.

    100XL...More flowing lines, smoother corners.

As I said, both are excellent caps and are available with some nice features. On both of mine I ordered sliding front glass and although the line-up isn't perfect with the Tacoma's rear slider it serves it purpose well. I also added the headliner on both and it provides a cleaner finish and a tiny bit of insulation if you plan on spending any time in it. The Thule system is great and ordering it from the factory is not only the most cost-effective way to go but is hassle free as well.

Here's a couple of pics of both for comparison......Hope this helped a little.:)

I have a leer 100r and I like it just fine. I opted for the auto lock that will lock and unlock the camper when the rest of the doors are locked and unlocked (using key fob or interior locks) and really dig that option.
