I traded my 2008 Doublecab TRD PreRunner for a 2010 Slate metallic Crewmax 4x4 on May 1st. The room in the crewmax is unbelievable, but part of me misses the Tacoma. Thanks to all on this site that have answered my questions or posted helpful tips and ideas. My only complaint with the Tundra is that the stereo sucks! I had the JBL 6disc in my Tacoma and it was much better than the radio in the new Tundra. The Tundra stereo is not the JBL unit but is not the base model either. It has the USB interface, bluetooth, steering wheel controls etc. which count for little when the sound is so bad. I'm not going to go on complaining. I'll still keep tabs on this site as my son owns a 2007 doublecab TRD PreRunner and I help him out with it when he needs it. Thanks again!

My payment actually went down $15 per month. I bought a Tundra with a MSRP of $40,861 for $36,413. I then rolled about $4500 in equity from my Tacoma into the Tundra. I got 0% on my Tacoma when I bought it in July of 2008 and probably would not have given that up if not for the 0% on the Tundra. The Tacoma was a great truck for me but with a large family the extra room is nice. I took it on a trip this past Sunday from Phoenix to Tucson and averaged 17.5 mpg while traveling between 75 - 80 mph. It's alot bigger than the Tacoma with more power on tap and the mpg's are just slightly less than the Tacoma. I suspect it will improve a little once I am through the break-in period. The only has 1500 miles on it right now.

I was going to get a Tundra but my wife drives the Tacoma DBL cab to work and she did not want anything bigger than the Tacoma.

I hate seeing these threads, cause I'm on the verge of trading up myself. I just can't let myself do it, especially after all I invested in my Taco. Congrats on the new Tundra, I'm sure you'll love it.

What engine did you get? Or does the crewmax only come with the bigger one?

I got the 5.7 rather than the smaller 4.7 (?) I know you can get the Crewmax in 4x4 with the smaller v8 but I figured I might as well get the larger engine in the event I want to tow larger boats, campers, etc. I think the smaller v8 may better your milage by 1 or 2 mpg. I don't drive very far to work and would rather have the options for towing. I also think the smaller v8 could actually hurt resale if you sell the truck. Tom

Glad you got what you wanted.

Slightly less MPG? I get 23 MPG running at 75 mph.

I have averaged 23 mpg (possibly higher) in my Tacoma at 75-85 mph; it was on the way home from Flagstaff, AZ (elevation 7000 ft.) to Phoenix, AZ (elevation 1500 ft.) On a serious note, I should mention that on my first trip where I averaged just under 18 mpg, I was running with the AC on. I had my Tacoma for 2 years and 24K miles and my son has a 2007 TRD PreRunner doublecab and makes many trips between Phoenix and San Diego (Camp Pendleton) and has never averaged above 21 mpg at those speeds with the AC on. Maybe if had installed the turbinator thing in the intake........??????? Tom:confused:

I've done it quite a bit. I once did it with 400+ lbs in the bed all the way down I95. Who knows, too many factors involved, such as driving style, but I'm certainly not the exception to the rule. Plenty of people on this very site see MPG like that, too.
