I just picked up a new riding mower, and when I got home I saw that the blade deck was right up tight on both sides of the bed. It scratched one side of the liner (don't care much, it's a truck), but on the other side it had gnawed almost all the way through.
I started thinking, what if water gets through there and starts to rust the bed?
So, being a good little doobie, I did a search here to see what the experts had to say on this. I didn't find any exact threads, but in one of them someone mentioned that it is not a liner, but the bed itself??
Is this correct? How can the bed be plastic and nothing else and still be strong enough to carry a riding mower or anything else of substance?
And if it is correct, what, if anything, can I do to patch up that (almost) hole?

Really? Just cuz you're a mod here doesn't mean you have to be an ass.

Is it a big hole? Can you get a picture.

If its small.. Could you possibly heat the bed enough to slightly melt the plastic together?

No, it's not that big. Probably some of the suggestions here would work. I'm actually a little relieved, because now I know it won't rust at least. :D

Yeah, that won't be an issue. Good luck with repairing it, if you manage something post up a pic.

it's about an inch or 2 up from the floor, on the wheel section. I went back out and looked, and it seems to be maybe a little more than halfway through the bed material, so probably it will be fine for now, but it would be good to know if anyone has repaired a complete hole, for future reference.
I'm a bit surprised this hasn't already happened to someone.
Well, probably it has, and I just haven't seen it here yet.

I thought the sides were different material than the floor....

I would consult your dealer. Toyota must have a way to patch the bed.

A few pics, but they look worse in person, you can't really see the depth on the gouge here.
