If I were the president and I wanted to help the US and keep politics out of it, I would get the top engineers on the job. I wouldn't pick any petroleum engineers cause they may be too close to the oil companies. I would limit the committee to 2 technical types and the others would be policy types so that we would focus on the problem not some other political agenda. As a matter of fact, I would pick someone that has a engineering specialty like optics! - Sound idiotic? Research it!

    Bump
News flash- Officials are saying large pockets of methane gas being released from relief well drilling at such high pressure could likely cause a tsunami. Small bubbles have been reported, and they say its only a matter of when

Haven't read any posts in this thread...and thought mention something ironic (or is it??).

We have a BP gas station locally that's been there forever. I might have gotten gas there a few times over the years -they're usually more expensive than the others.

It might have been a couple weeks since I've passed by...... but just the other day, we passed it and it was gone. Leveled.... the only thing left was the BP sign and some dirt piles & an excavator.

    I thought....Oh look...they tore down that gas station. It's a BP.

So it makes me wonder....what's going on (not that I really care)? Are they slimming the fleet? Getting rid of the excess business? Pulling out of America? laugh....

to build off of janster's point. Many of the BP's in this area have either closed or have covered up their bp signs.
I was on my way to Jackson, TN this wknd and when getting on the interstate, I noticed that the BP there at the exit had a big red sign, with a blue circle in the middle. It still looked like a BP other that the sign. It looks to me that they are trying to hoodwink the people into thinking they have closed the stations and someone else has taken it. I know I for one have quit using BP gas, and will not even go to a place that used to resemble a BP. Bastards!!!
