so if he's running 16x7 4.5"bs, and he puts the same tires on 16x8 4.0"bs, each tire wont be 1.5" further out?

because that's pretty much what I just said.

no lift as of yet. and lots of sag actually too. haha anyhow. rubbing is more up to the tire size i think then anything. i have 31' x 10.50 r15 with the 3.75 back spacing and they only the slightest bit if turning and hitting a bump.

as far as i have read on here, if you run the 16" rim you can get away with 265 75 r16's at most with stock suspension.

i was just trying to be clear as he doesn't know what tires he will be running.

if he goes with the 16x8 with the 4" b/s the outside of his rim will be pushed out by 1.5". then the extra width from what ever over sized tires he chooses.
say he gets a 10.50 that would add another 1.25" on to the width making the total 2.75" ya? i think that math is right

if he's running stock wheels and size tires, he has 265s (which is about 10.5" wide) on a 16x7 4.5" bs rim.

if he runs 10.5" wide tires on a 16x8 4.0"bs rim, the outside of the tire will be 1.5" further out since the tire width doesnt change.

if he goes 12.5" wide tires, add an extra inch to the width.

my bad. as long as he has and stays with stock width tires what you said is surly right. i was thinking of the tires my truck came with(235's) and i didn't even account for the width going out either side of the rim. cheers.

I got to get new tires before i can afford wheels. So my question is if i get the stock tires 265-70-16 on a 16x7 wheel. Will the same tires fit a 16x8 wheel?

Yes, you can run that size tire on either a 7" or 8" wide rim.
