SPOKANE -- A pistol packing Pizza Pipeline employee discouraged a would-be thief from robbing his store Wednesday night.
Spokane Police say the suspect entered the Pizza Pipeline at 1724 W. Wellesley armed with a pellet gun and wearing a green mask.
What the burglar didn't know is that one of the employees behind the counter happens to have a concealed pistol license and was carrying his gun during this particular shift.
When the suspect showed his pellet gun and demanded money, the employee pulled out his pistol and told the suspect to drop his weapon. Police say the startled suspect bolted out the door at the sight of the armed employee.
Police found parts of the suspect's busted pellet gun in the store's parking lot.
Responding officers set up a perimeter around the store and brought in a K-9 in an attempt to catch the suspect, but the search produced no results.
Police say the suspect is described as a skinny white man, about 5'9" tall, wearing jeans, a dark colored zip-up sweater, light colored gloves and the green mask.
Officers are asking anyone with information on the crime to call Crime Check at (509)456-2233. © 2010 KXLY.com. All rights reserved.

It's about as smart as the robber who used an unloaded revolver.

Unfortunately, more and more employers are making the workplace, and sometimes even the parking lot off-limits to those licensed to carry a concealed weapon. I am sure for liability reasons

Thus the key word "concealed" right as in what they don't know can't hurt them? Until you have to defend yourself and then the jig is up. However, I'd trade my job for defending myself any day. I hope to never have to be in that situation either way.

Where I work is right in the middle of crack town. We are treated with homeless, hookers, drug dealers and all manner of low life. Our company has a policy that allows us to carry on property and in the building provided we are legally allowed to and with the managers approval. Since I am the first one here in the very early morning I take advantage of that sence of security.
