tacoskim,i just put a magnaflow catbck on my 08 it has a 3 inch tail pipe and it a little ricie sounding i believe its from the bigger tail pipe im like you if i had it to do over i would have gotten just the muffler and welded it in the oem piping . ilove the way the exhaust sounds when you get on thr throttle a little bit but when your crusing along and overdrive kicke in it sounds kinda bad i thought about selling it it only 3 weeks old but my buddy tells me it sound better when it breaks in i never hered of a muffler breaking in my advice is find a muffler you like and save your self a bunch of money and have it weded in your oem piping amd buy you a chrome tip for it

So I have done some more research and found out that most people that got the Magnaflow full cat back wish they did just the muffler alone on there stock piping... I am kind of debating on saving some extra $ and doing just the muffler as well... but I really want a good sound no rasp and no rice...

should I do Magnaflow muffler? or any other muffler suggestions?

That sounds beautiful.... best sound clip yet for the Gibson... I no longer am going the cheap route of just the muffler... I am calling my brother now and ordering the Gibson! Aluminized should be fine for SoCal :)

Lets just say hypothetically speaking if I were to only do a muffler... what one would get me closest to that sound of the Gibson? :)

    Probably a Gibson.

I had swapped a Gibson muffler onto a Bassani exhaust on another vehicle and was thrilled with the tone and the fact that it didn't resonate in the cab.

Can't help you with that one, but I did have a pretty good chuckle at your expense. :p

No welding and everything lines up perfectly. It was a relaxing driveway upgrade. Didn't even have to jack the truck up.

Perfect! Makes more sense to buy the bolt on vs. pay a shop to weld in a muffler alone and only save 20-40 bucks.
