so i've had my tacoma for just about a year now. last year during hunting season i had to pile high all my luggage and belongings into the bed of the truck making it a real hassle to unload. so this year im hoping to get a hitch put on to tow my utility trailer but im not to sure as what im looking for. i have a few questions like, whats a good brand? can i put this on myself? and how hard is it to wire trailer lights on these trucks? TIA

You need to figure out what you are going to tow> weight>of trailer loaded, tongue weight> there may be a trailer electrical plug you can buy that plugs into your Tacoma harness with out any cutting or splicing.I would look at a class 3 hitch and you should be able to install it yourself.

thats not a bad price on that hidden hitch and the wiring i might have to check into that. i probably wont be towing more than 1500 pounds at a time thats just a rough estimate but i know i wont be close to the max capacity

That's the combo that I have had on my 2002 for 8 years. Works for me.

Hidden Hitch - I had one on my 96.

I never towed anything with it, primarily used it to yank people out of the mud, yank tree stumps outta the ground, get myself yanked out of thd mud...:D

I got the Uhaul trailer wiring put in for like $50. But the wiring is only like $20 and I had to redo it anyway after it shorted out. It's pretty easy, just splice into the rear tail light and find a good ground.
