will i be able to mount any type of guard like this or will i have to cut the grill a little for the supports?

Should mount right up, aside from the lower insert in the slot in the bumper. They go through there with mounting plates. But I'd look elsewhere from my experience. Those style grille guards arent very strong and wont do much good unless its just small brush and you're not intending on it fending away animals on the highway.

Well, any aftermarket offroad replacement bumper is going to offer much more protection then one of those brush guards. Actually, that brush guard will decrease the approach angle of the truck, whereas the aftermarket bumper will increase your approach angle as well.
