Heya everyone, new member but I've been wanting a Taco forever now and I'm finally taking the plunge and buying one. I need some help though as I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to these trucks so figured I'd post here.

Here's the deal, my dealership is wanting to sell me a 2008 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner Double Cab SR5 TRD Sport for $23,200 OTD. has just under 36,000 miles on it and was a "dealership" vehicle so they had some kind of wrap on the paint and such basicly making it so the inside and outside looks brand new. Is $23,200 a good deal for these trucks or am I getting hosed? Anyone willing to help me out with some advice I'd appreciate it as I really want to own a Tacoma Sport but as a military guy with a family I'm limited on my income [IMG]

    Specs on Truck is:

    Tube Steps
    TRD Sport Package #1
    Standard options.

Thanks again for any advice given!

Ive been looking around for awhile now and I think that's a pretty good deal. I would say more like 21,500 or 22 for me because I need 4x4 living in Oregon, not a PreRunner.

Thanks for the replys, I've kbb'd it and it lists at $27,000ish. I looked online at multiple dealerships within 500 miles and they all start out around $24,000 which this one did too. Should I factor in the fact this truck's belonged to the dealership the entire time (IE wear/care should be high) to the price or is it too little a factor?

I thought the Prerunner's was cheaper than the 4x4's? Just kind of confused on this. So is/is not a good deal?

Here's my input... I think you could get a new truck for just a few hundered dollars more. (i know it's not a sport model but...)

My local dealers ad came out today (Sat 7-24-10) and you can buy a brand new 2010 prerunner double cab for $23,988.
Now it might not have all the bells and whistles but I'd buy new over used if i had the chance.

I know it will be a challenge to get your dealer to match this but I wish you luck in your search.

    Ouch!

Thank you Nathan for bringing that up, I've never bought a brand new vehicle always been worried that when I do it'll be a lemon/headache. Usually I go for around the 3 year old range that way the car/truck has had time to be broken in and any trends usually come to light. Based on some of the feedback on other threads on the 2010 if I could get this kind of deal it might be worth it to buy new.

Glad I could help. You also should keep in mind interest rates... new vehicles almost always have lower interest rates than used... so that could also help swing you over to a new truck.

I wouldnt worry too much about something going wrong with an 2010. Toyota should have all the kinks worked out by now (since its been in production since 05). Plus you'll have a 3yr/36k warranty.;)
