nice, yeah im not bothered by it either, nice tacoma for sure,i took mine off, painted my front and rear bumpers and grill black,im bedlining my bed with dupli color bedline spray paint, hoping to get my truck painted of might leave it alone, soon i get my front winch bumper and rear bumper from Northwest Trail Innovations, then i will start suspension,i might do Solo Motorsports 14″ of fully-functional 2wd travel for the 1st. Gen. Tacoma with BOXED Upper Control Arms Combine this 14″ long-travel kit with Fully-Fabricated 3″ Lift Spindles and the Tacoma’s performance is greatly improved along with adding 1 7/8″ wider stance per side at static-ride height. Fully-Fabricated 3″ Lift Spindles allow the removal of coilover pre-load resulting in a front suspension that can handle the small-to-medium roller bumps without the usual “tight” front suspension feel.pretty sick,i got a price for this and rear stuff,so the long travel kit with there lift spindle, kings shocks front and rear, deavers leafs and all the parts for 4800 bucks good deal for the front and rear

I ordered it thru a local jeep shop and it came from the Richmond gear plant about 30 mins away.

Congrats on having the semi rare 4banger doublecab wi NO e-locker. :)
To answer your first question, yes. Absolutely worth it.
Mud, rocks, trails, asphalt, gravel, whatever...it works like it should. Under acceleration both wheels are getting power. I think technically we have 8.4 rear ends but people just call them 8's.
As for "on road performance", I think it helped quite a bit here as well.
Instead of trying to push the vehicle with an open diff, ( one wheel) both wheels are propelling the vehicle forward. Pound for pound I have read that the 3rzfe at 150 hp is one of the best Motors avail for our trucks.

I have also driven in the snow quite a bit and although somewhat tricky at first,
s still much better than an open diff however.....I would not recomend it to someone who lives in that kind of environment even 50% of the year.

Just went through the whole thread, great build up!
I have the same rare option combination, TRD SR5 2.7 3RZ 4 banger....
Hunted for a while to find it, good to see there are a few others out there....

I have a similar build plan, great inspiration here - keep up the good work.

Thanks, I've been wanting a locker for a while and was just wondering would it help me out a whole lot, I live in MS so the most offroading we do is usually trails and light mud holes and a few hills.

How much lift do you have with the 881s in the front with the winch?

881's with the 1/4 top spacers give a full 3 inches.
All pro bumper and winch maybe drops it to 2.5.
I'm barely scrubbin hard left turns. No scrub hard right.
