are you happy with that rear powertrax locker. im still scared of locker because of axle binding issues. can you shed some light on how it has performed in your truck and what all went into the installation. i hate using gear paint over and over on the spider gears until is perfectly aligned. vwill i be able to avoid this with my truck. oh yeah its 2004 prerunner ext cab sr5 with trd package. love the way your truck looks to!!!!

 

Gear paint? Theres no backlash adjustment here with the poweretrax sir.
No binding issues. no strange tire wear. nothing.

 

b-e-a-utiful!!! thats what i wanted to hear. now just to clarify wont see any of the stated issues with a powertrax lockright because i just realized you have a no slip in yours. dont mean to bug asking almost the same question twice just dont more issues to deal with for a little more traction.

 

Hey man, when you go to install the locker do you need to buy a seal for when you reinstall the the 3rd member in the axle?

 

No. It,s a really thin paper gasket. Just be sure and scrape it all off and clean the surface really well with some tolulene or something. Then apply some orange rtv gasket sparingly around the diameter of the housing.
Some people also regimens replacing the axle seals. I didn't and have had no problems but I do keep a good watch of them.

Onboard air and my winch and i'm done with this project for a bit.

Think i'm going with the xrc8 or xrc10 smittybuilt with synth line like larry has. I have to doublecheck the clearance as all pro says my bumper was built around one of the low pro, removable solonoid warn winches.

$1000 seems fair. I'll even deliver it half ways.

 

I had to do some moving and extending stuff to get mine to fit but its a 12.5k more than enought haha I think they make a 8k winch too. The winch i went with is cheap but we have used it for a ton of junk and it still works like the day i got it. I like how your bumper will leave the winch kinda exposed but i guess you wanna keep everything nice and tight.
