Oh yeah, the stock muffler is bigger than the stock muffler I had on my 72' Power Wagon ! absolutely idiotic.. Any aftermarket exhaust you get will be better than stock....

I'm mostly happy that with the MODS I have done , its happened without much money involved, mostly hunting down parts/material that works well with whatever MOD I'm doing...

& yeah I want my truck up & going soooooo damned bad it really hurts,

I dunno about the "unbelievably talented offroader" thing, i mean i do alright, most my experience comes from learning the hard way on what & what not to do, I started actual 4 wheeling when I was 18 (bought a bone stock '72 Dodge Power Wagon) Lifted & modded the hell out of it suspension wise, at one time it was alleged to be the highest full sized Dodge in Calif with the doorhandle 68" off the ground, mine was also the first Dodge (according to John Compton owner of Border Parts in spring valley, he knew this cause he was the only one in CA that was selling them at the time) to use Rancho suspension lift kits in SoCal as well, back then there were no offroad shops & damned few aftermarket parts .....

as soon as i get to AZ & drag my Sammy back here & sell it I'll get my trans done & hit some trails, don't worry, when it happens you'll def. know from some extreme trail pic thread from some obscure local San Diego trail on a run no one even knew about....

 

Since my truck is down, its time to do the simple ,straightforward MODS that would've been put off if my truck was up & running, it makes sense & it keeps my interest in my truck evolving until all is well & I can go back to re-claim my throne in the SoCal Tacomas Region (I need to knock a few heads together when I return to the trailruns & get the legions goose stepping once again.... )


So with that said I pulled the trigger on a fellow members (BlackDawg) blinker relocation MOD for 1st gens (of course)..

Alot of you know how much I bitched about the ugly ass front bumper/valance (& it shows seeing how I barely have a front bumper since trimming off 14" of plastic)

I never mentioned the ugly ass big,bulky turn signals that have cursed the Tacoma from years '98 thru 2000 (they changed again in '01) I fuckin' hated them too, so.... I decided to do it.....

The original MOD proceedure was to auger out another hole next to the existing marker lamp assembly..

I opted for using the existing marker lamp hole for what I am hoping will be better turn signal illumination from the side view as well as visually better from the the front view.

I think BlackDawg had used a couple diff. drill bits & a file to smooth up the edges.

I found & used a socket approx the same size as the existing turn signal fixture & heated it up (not too hot though) & basically re molded & shaped the hole to the size I needed..



Now its time to clean it up a bit, smooth things out & get ready to "notch" 4 small rectangular openings that match the 4 little tabs on the fixture so the element will still twist & lock into place. I did this with a small flat headed screwdriver (after heating it up also) Just pressed the tip of screwdriver into the marked locations, done, just need to clean up the hole a little..

 

I did fuck up a little bit here where I'm pointing, its an easy fix though, & yes the rest of it is secure & tight except this little spot....

Yeah my ride 's been down since october & yep I still am doing & fixing everyone's truck but my own, ...go figure....

Who needs a compressor ? I break these down on the truck & re assemble same way doode....

Ya know guys just the fact that you offered, or wished ya could help means alot & I really dont blame anyone for not jumping all over this, these trannys are kind of a bitch to R&R, all I've done is drop the drivelines & the pan so I could see how much metal there was in the bottom & there was about half a pound or more, got a real sick feelinjg when i saw it.....

Yeah, did i mention I dont drop the LCA ?? ....bet ya wont see that in the video....

 

Still just farting around waiting for the transmission fairy...... but i love my coils...
