Did you move the washer reservoir or just put something over it to protect it? It looks like you have something over the location.

And great pictures by the way, wish we had stuff like that close in the North East

Got my Dakars on with the AP shackles this weekend, set the axle relocate plates at 1", may have to go back and change them to 3/4. Time will tell. I definitely see what you mean about the pulling in up top of the shackle, looks like it's much narrower up top but when I measure it's not that much wider on bottom. I may have to try and find some different thickness washers than the AP ones as the bolt doesn't come out past the nut all the way. Thanks again for the help.

That would be the best thing to do. If you know anyone with a milling lathe, I'd just shave the washers down just a bit and it would be perfect.

Steering rack swap is finished. So far so good. The Safari LTD rack looks to be a solid piece. Time will tell if it's truly better than other aftermarket options.

Got the alignment all done, and steering feels really good. Next up is replacing my trashed spring bushings. Ordered new ones today and should have them swapped this weekend before our trip to the dunes.

Adam, been following your build for a while. Really like your rig. Are you still running stock gears? Im torn between keeping stock or getting 4.56. Next purchase down the road is either Trail Gear front bumper + rear leaf pack (maybe up bolt flip and shock relocate) or gears...

Thanks. You didn't honk or anything?

Yep still running stock gears. I know stock gears are completely unacceptable to some people, but it has never bothered me. I can get everywhere I want to go as quickly as I want and with acceptable power. Offroad it doesn't bother me because it's easy to crawl with the auto trans. Pulls my trailer fine too. So I haven't felt the need to change it.

Not currently. The Dakars limit uptravel with the dual progressive overloads. I might still add some bumps soon but it's working without them.

one of the cool thing about having boys that dig trucks is that they'll come out and work on them with you. My boys learned how to replace spring bushings today.

The eye bushings were totally disintegrated. Here's a bad one with a new Toyota bushing on the left.

this bushing was so bad the inner sleeve fell right out when we got the spring out.

Wow, makes me wonder how long they would have lasted without the zerks to grease them!

those don't have zerks. That is the eye on the frame end. It uses a factory toyota bushing and bolt. There's an inner and out sleeve. It's common for the bolt to seize to the inner sleeve and then all the rotation is forced into the rubber and it will tear apart.

Mine weren't siezed at all but they had just been run hard.
