What gearing do you have in your truck now? I get horrible MPG's with my 305's thinking of a 33/10.5 or 11.5 next go around. Great build also hope you are able to keep the truck.

I assume this is Utah? What an awesome place to camp! I hope to make it out west in a few years to get to see sights like this while camping. All I have here are the backwoods of Mississippi

Would anyone be interested in a bedrack like mine if I were to build a few more? I've had a bunch of people ask me about that so now I'm considering it if I can make it a worthwhile effort.

I couldn't do these same C130 tie downs as I have no way to source them from the Air Force. :)

Just out of curiosity, if you were interested, what do you feel you would be willing to pay for a base rack? I'm thinking if I do it I'll offer the base rack and then options like the track system, ski/bike racks, lights, tire mounts, fuel can brackets, hi lift brackets etc. Depending on what people are willing to pay, and if it's worth the time it will take to build them will determine if I decide to go ahead with this or not.

Are there specific features you would want?

Id love to see it happen but definitely don't have the money right yet. After my rear suspension is payed for and installed I might have a little extra because of ap's free shipping and some killer discounts I get on labor.

If I didn't go with a shell I would be interested. It's an excellent design that keeps things below the roof line. I kind of hope you don't start selling. It's so unique to your truck I don't know how I'd feel seeing it everywhere lol. Good luck with all of it though!

I've wondered that too since I have a shell now, but I'm actually been surprised that for certain trips I've removed the shell and used the rack. Especially if I want to use my RTT and don't want to take the trailer. When I got the shell I thought about selling my rack, but it's so versatile I just need to keep it.

Very understandable. The rack seems to be like a swiss army knife. Whatever you want to do with it, it's capable. If I ever decide on getting a RTT I would probably start talking with you about buying a rack. The RTT just doesn't seem practical in the Mississippi woods with limbs hanging everywhere just asking to rip a cover or something.

I've wondered about tents being used in heavily forested areas. I good friend of mine owns EQUIPT Expedition Outfitters and is a dealer for Eezi Awn tents. They are without question one of the best RTT's out there. They are used extensively all over the world and the covers are very durable. They must hold up just fine because lots of people use them in heavily wooded areas.

I also came across something the other day that was an interesting approach. Actually kinda cool idea that I'm sure gives some protection to the tent.

haha interesting approach. I'm sure their covers are very durable. I may end up with one, but it still makes me nervous. I've seen jeep soft tops ripped on trails, and I guess my nervousness stems from that. I'm sure with a little cautious driving there would never even be a scratch. There's just so much I want to buy for the truck

Well a friend and I were planning on taking a run out into the deset today after work, but my friend screwed up his back and could hardly walk so we had to postpone our desert run. I still had a little time after work so I decided it was a good time to just take some pictures since I had the truck all cleaned up. :)

Hope you don't mind, I took a bunch.

It's good. Better reception with less interference from the cab. Besides I needed a new place for it since I added the shell.
