Yeah kinda like my '81. If someone would make a good offer for a trade on an 80-series I'd prolly do it. *cough* *cough*

Sadly (for you) the 80 is going to get some serious love soon and become my badass Daily Driver. The taco will get handed down to my son when he turns 16 in another year.

Haha, I was there because the dealership was supposed to offer me a "killer deal" on buying my truck from me. I didn't have high expectations, but went anyway out of curiousity. The offer ended up being completely laughable.

What a crazy awesome first ride! my first car was a 1990 chevy corsica

The dealer offers seem to always be laughable. I still get some every now and then and I don't even think twice before throwing the letter away.

Mine wasn't one of those stupid form letters. That would have gone in the trash immediately. A guy at the dealership called me because he had a customer looking for a built 1st gen with some specific features. The dealership knows my truck so they called me.

A diesel hilux would be awesome, but if I sold my Tacoma, I would buy a cheap 1st gen truck for my son to build, and then dump the rest of the money into my 80. Either way the 80 is going to get fixed up and become the primary off-roader and most likely my daily driver within the next year or so. I gotta say I'm pumped about spending more time in the cruiser. We're looking at a possible V8 swap, some interior upgrades, a little more lift and moving from 35's to 37's. As much as I love my Tacoma, the 80 has been the best vehicle we've ever owned.

Let's put it this way, I will seriously consider selling it if the right buyer/price comes along. If you are interested in it, PM me an offer. Full disclosure.....there are a few little nicks in the paint but nothing serious. Rear glass has some flecks of something stuck to it that I haven't been able to get off. Hardly visible but you can just feel it if you run your hand across the glass. It was that way when I got it (used). The interior dome light is broken. Everything else is in good condition.

Pulled the topper back off the truck tonight. Need to haul some big stuff tomorrow so it needed to come off.

Also, the 35's are back on the truck for a few days. My "regular" wheels with the KM2s got repainted today. Sorry to you guys that liked the grey, I went back to black.

Are you using a pulley system in your garage for swapping the topper and rack back and forth? I would love to have both like you but can't justify the cost and or work involved with swapping them.

I started building a pulley system but it's only part way completed. My two boys (14 and 12) are big enough that they can help me swap the topper until I get the pulley system finished.

I removed my topper by myself one time. You think you have seen crazy methods when people are rolling the RTT accross the driveway with a skateboard and sliding it up some 2x4's onto the rack/roof. You should have seen me doing it to the topper. Definitely won't be trying it again.

Awesome! Just saw this for the first time. Still thinking I'm going to run the pipe all the way up. Great job!
