Tacoma isn't going anywhere and will still be my primary driver for a while. Then it will go to my son when he starts driving next year.

I may be interested in the 285's when you get them off the new cruiser. 16" wheels right? You will have to let me know when all is said and done what you decide to do with them.

My white cruiser is very well used. It's got over 300k miles and without some serious updating it is beyond the point of being 100% reliable on long multi-day trips to remote areas. We debated a motor rebuild etc but in the end it was cheaper to buy a replacement with lower miles and swap over all the components from the white truck to the new one.

Both trucks have the 1FZ so no big power difference. But I have drive. An FJ80 with the earlier 3FE and they are ridiculously slow. The 1FZ is is dramatically better but it's still not what anyone could call fast. But I've never been too concerned about that. Some friends and I used to joke and say "speed kills, drive a Land Cruiser and live." Its easy to overlook the lack of speed when you have strong solid axles, nice cool sprung suspension and triple lockers. :)

Yep they are for 16" wheels. I'm almost positive I'll be selling them. I'll be changing to 315s for sure, possibly even 345's. I'll let you know when it's time and share some pics and a price for the tires.

Sweet keep me posted. I am not crazy about the fact that they are generals and love my 255 km2s but I have a extra set of wheels and would love a set of all terrains to switch back and forth.

For better winter traction, correct? Are there any downsides to it, faster wear or less grip off road?

Siping will help a lot with winter traction. Does not increase treadwear and can actually improve offroad grip too. Only downsides might be the possibility of some chunking of the treadblocks, but that's never been an issue in my experience.

Thanks I agree. Looks like I'm picking it up in Grand Junction a week from Saturday. It's gonna be a long couple weeks.

I was going to get in touch with you. When are you out of town? I was going to see if you had time to go check it out for me? if that's a PITA don't sweat it at all. The seller has been great to give me lots of info and lots of pics but I still have not seen it in person and it would be cool to have someone check it out.

if you have time to take a look, PM me and I'll get you my phone number.

Very interesting. Something to think about if I have some difficulty this winter, thanks for the reply.

here's a couple photos of the siping on my KM2s. This was done when I bought the tires about 4 months ago. There are several hundred miles of trail use on these at this point and you can see that they haven't been chunking at all. Discount tire did the siping and they keep it to the center lugs. Makes a big difference in winter driving on tires with large tread blocks like the KM2s.

And here I was just thinking MY truck looked good... not anymore. That rig is spectacular!

There's a Discount Tire around the corner from me, I wonder if they'd do used tires? That is if snow ever actually falls.

No it's one I've had a long time. It's a military surplus medical supply case. Aluminum, locking, and waterproof. Cool box.

I always get the center section of the tires siped. Way better bite off-road, and also in the wet and snow.
