I said before, I never planned to sell it. Still won't unless the deal is right for me. I never said I was taking the $18K offer. :spy:

If the Tacoma gets sold, some money will go into my FZJ80 and it will once again become the primary wheeler. It's set up pretty well already with a good lift, 35's, locker, armor. I'm not taking a step down if I ditch the Tacoma.

One of the factors with the Tacoma is that not only do my two boys like to go, but so does my wife and my other two kids. We can all fit in the Tacoma with the bed seats, but it isn't ideal for all of us. The Cruiser is definitely more comfortable for the whole family and it's every bit as capable as the Tacoma in all kinds of terrain.

    Food for thought.....

the right buyer changes everything and what the perceived value of a vehicle is can go out the window to the right buyer. My old FJ40 is a perfect example. Even if I wasn't biased, it was a bad ass cruiser and was in great condition and well built. But there was nothing crazy about it. The market at the time was probably in the $14-16K range for a cruiser like that, and I knew it. But guess what? It sold for $26K! It was the right truck for the right buyer and he was willing to pay to get the truck he wanted. I'm not saying the same thing is going on here, but it isn't so cut and dried.

I retract my statement after reading what you just posted. Would have been redundant

Generally speaking mods do not add value, but isn't always the case. Some people are willing to pay extra for certain mods especially when they know what it would cost to do those same mods on their own.

Take Monte's $13K DC. If someone bought that bone stock truck for what Monte paid, and wanted to do exactly what I've done to mine, it would cost them well beyond $5K for the mods putting it beyond the $18K offer I mentioned. And no I'm not factoring time and labor into that. Some people are willing to pay the extra for mods when they are the type they want and they know it will cost them more to do it on their own. For some it's far easier to buy the truck they want already set up the way they want it. Look at the Expeditions West Tacoma that just sold again for somewhere in the mid $20K range.

as for the emotional attachment factor.....I'd be lying if I said there wasn't any with this truck. But cutting those ties isn't that big of a deal. My FJ40 was FAR worse. I had WAY more memories and experiences in that thing and there literally was not a peice of that Cruiser that had not been touched and rebuilt or replaced by me before I sold it. If I can get rid of that thing, I can get rid of anything.

    started like this.

BTW, I work at a Credit Union and we finance high Blue Book. High BB of this truck is $14339. With all the goodies you have on, shit, I would be asking for 20k at least. Thats just me. oh, and we finance up to 130%, so really, I could finance $18640. So let me know when you ready to sell...LOL..jk

I don't talk about snowbasin much. It's so awesome I kinda stay quiet about it so it doesn't get flooded with people. Brighton has a better park if you're into that but my body is too old to park ride any more. I'm much more into finding so great powder and making some turns. Snowbasin is great for that.

I've been going to Snow Basin for years. Love it.

Back in 2000 I was doing work for a company based in Vernal. They had some sort of exclusivity privileges at Snow Basin (before they built it up for the SLC Olympics) and they took me there a few times. I was hooked.

Went back at least 5 or 6 times since.

The problem at Brighton is that is so popular that unless you're one of the first ones on the mountain, the areas of good powder get tracked out super fast. Snow basin is less crowded and lots more open so you can almost always find untracked runs of good powder.

This idea is a serious yo-yo. Still looking at possibly selling the Taco if the deal is right and building the Cruiser a bit more........

......or just selling the Cruiser and banking the cash. There is part of me that would LOVE to do a few more things to the Cruiser and drive that truck more. But can't decide if I want to bail on the Taco or not. Not much more I'd even do to the Tacoma in terms of mods. It works great for what I want out of it. That makes it hard to get rid of.

I have no experience with the Cruisers. My current Tacoma is my first. From what people say about Cruisers, it is hard to compete with them. That being said, if I was in your position, I would have a hard time parting with the Tacoma. The way you have built yours and the various configurations you have for varying seasons make it so versatile that I think I would hang on to it. If you sold the Cruiser and really felt like spoiling your boys that cash would go a long way building up some older Toyota pickups. The updated sig looks nice by the way.

I, like you have had some yotas that I've built up and loved them a lot. Thought I would never sale any of them but the price was on point and I got rid of it. Tacoma included. Sale the tacoma and worst case you can have the thrill of building another one up.
    Good luck with your decision.
