I'd got a little time on my hands and i have all the corresponding images: Time for a Build Thread.

It's the year 2010 when i start this thread but i'll just add posts to it as by the year. Mods. Price approximations. Why.

First back in 2006 i had made the decision to buy a truck. I had been driving my honda for a while and altho i have definitly learned alot from it I was tired of the attention, tired of not being able to haul but more than ONE friend around, and i wanted something NEW... newish. :p

    [First Pic ~October 2006]
That's when i saw this (my) truck on Craigslist. 2001 V6 Dbl Cab Prerunner. ECT, Running Boards, Rear Locker, Towing Package, TRD, Bedliner, 16" Tundra Stars w/Rugged Trails 265/70. Advertised for $14k--which was a steal at the time, wouldn't you know that's what my loan voucher was for... BAM. It's mine.

    That's it for 2006. :)

    2007!

    [First Pic ~April 2007]
Still in the street mindset first thing i did K&N FIPK. $250>X>$200. Installed by yours truely. Gained about 2mpg and a nice whistling sound upon throttling up.

    [Second Pic ~June 2007]
Still in the street mindset second thing i bought was a Gibson Side swept Exhaust. Strait-thru design. Installed, again, by me. ~$400. Gained another mpg, a nice start up growl, and only roars after 3k rpms.

    [Third & Fourth Pics ~October 2007]
1 Year Aniversary with me and the truck. Birthday Present to both of us. Donahoe Coilovers and Bilstine 5150's. ~$1,500 total from the shop. Really enjoyed this. Yes i drove around front higher than the rear. :p

    That's it for 2007. :)

    2008!

    [First Pic ~May 2008]
Rear window conversion. ~$400. There was nothing with my window at the time. I just REALLY wanted it done. 4-panel design. 2 center panels split open.

    [Second Pic ~November 2008]
Deaver J59. 8-leaf pack. $650 installed by yours truely. This was suppose to be around oct as a 2-year aniversary for me and the truck. Unfortunately i had this run around with a shop who actually tried to sell and install some false pack. Whatever. It all worked out in the end.

Third pic is just some early action shots I did. I never really did anything i would call "hardcore" up until this point. This shot is just me plowing through 6ft weeds in my truck. lol.

    That's it for 2008.

    2009!

    [First Pic ~August 2009]
Icon UCAs. ~$1,200 after shop install. I was nostalgic from my "socal lift" and wanted the front higher again. You know, you can crank you C/Os all the way up if you get UCAs. Ha.

Second pic being my first actual trail. Otay Mountain Truck Trail. "Hardcore". lol.

    2010!

    [First pic ~Jan 2010]
Two Birds w/ 1 Stone from URD. O-ring mod. $5 installed by yours truely. And then i don't have a picture of it but you guys can look it up, but it's URDs Underdrive pulley. ~$450 after shop install. Can't tell much from the O-ring. It's all mental i suppose. The Pulley freed up low end acceleration.

Second Pic. After destroying my tires at Otay over and over again i was finally motivated to buy new wheels and was inspired by the spare look. lol.

    [Third Pic ~February 2010]
ProComp 15" 98 Series. Steel. Wrapped in BFG A/T 33x10.5. ~$1,200. I originally wanted the flat black series but they were totally back ordered. Turns out Gloss looks just the same--just don't wash'em. BFG A/T is a universal choice imo. I just went with that size because i REALLY DIDN'T want to rub.

    [Fourth Pic ~March 2010]
4.56 Nitro Gears. Rear Diff assembled by EastcoastGearSupply, Installed by a local shop. ~$750 all totalled up. With my old wheels i was able to squeeze 21mpg on really good days. After the wheels it dropped to 15mpg. After the regear that number climbed back 19mpg. Not bad i suppose.

Fifth pic testing out travel with the new wheels. :D

    End of 2010 Part 1.

2010 Part 2 is a really big one. LONG TRAVEL. :D

    [First & Second Pics ~October 2010]
Glassworks Fiberglass Fenders. 3.5" Rise & Flare. $355 picked up at their shop. Installed by yours truely. This was a learning experience. Never knew the fenders were so integrated into the front end.

    [Third & Fourth Pics ~November 2010]
Grey Primer paint job. Done by yours truely, again. I spent $25 dollars worth in paint supplies, but i honestly could have done it with $15. Kinda proud of this one. :p

That's about where it sits now. I have the TC kit hiding under my bed while i wait for Icon to finish the shocks. The grand total in parts is just under $4,500. Gotta pay to play. Never thought i'd spend more in truck suspension than my honda is worth. lol.

I don't particularly enjoy driving around with glass fenders w/o an actual LT setup but w/e. I'm still debating whether or not I want color match the fenders or just take my chances with rattle cans. Money pending of course.

That's it for now. More pics as i go along.

Love it! Rattle can color match by duplicolor maybe? Right now the darker color just throws it off IMO.

Duplicolor color matches? I meant just taking a shot in the dark and seeing that color best matches the "Lunar Mist". That or actually taking it to a paintshop to have them color match.

As for being 100% on color i honestly could careless. I mean, i still drive my honda around (it's nowhere as nice as it looks in my first post) and that thing is half primered in random places. It makes only having primered fenders look like a tuxedo.

    2010 Part 3. LT!

    Total Chaos Kit $2,700
    Coil bucket Gussets $90
    Spindle Gussets $35
Icon Vehicle Dynamics LT Coilovers $1,100

Come October I finally paid off the truck. I was going to do something big to it to celebrate, either Supercharge or LT. I didn't like the cons of the blower and i really wanted to do something about the harsh ride i had with my mid travel cranked up all the way. Pics to show how it sits with the preset on the coilovers, and me trying to zoom on on the various parts.

Needless to say the front rides like a caddy now--i'm very happy about that. I'm pretty sure i've lost a little turn radius, but I am "re-learning" to steer the truck all over again. After about 3 gas ups I can still squeeze 18mpgs, but this is with ALOT of effort to conserve. Not exactly the main point of the truck. ;)

A few ideas i have lined up for the future would be color matching the fenders, and heim steering. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself tho, i have a huge financial hole to fill. :)

    Starting off 2011

    February

DIY Painted Fiberglass Fenders. I bought about $100 worth of paint supplies but actually used $55 worth. This was Dupli-Color Color Match.

Just to note I do only consider my honda a commuter. I use the truck when I "go out".

As far as truck plans go there are a few more things i want to do to the front before i go to the back. Heim Steering, Secondary Shock hoops... maybe squeeze in headers. ha. But as far as overall financial plans the rising costs of school push the truck plans further and further down the road. :(
