Thanks guys, the BL will be comming off soon. Kevin at ATO is working with me about building a rear bumper similar to the ones he builds for 2nd gens. I will take the BL off when i get this bumper. Also plan on bobbing the bed and boxing the frame at the same time. Hopefully it will turn out good, ill keep the thread updated.

Is the bumper going to be built after the bed is bobbed otherwise you'd have to re-do it again afterward?!

    Looking forward to the build:cool:

Do you have the full budbuilt 3 piece skid (front skid, belly pan and cross member)? Sorry if you said it somewhere earlier in the thread.

Yes, I dont think i did. If your thinking about getting it, I would beef up the belly pan while its still straight. Mine looked like a banana until I flattened it out with a sledge. But, its already starting to do it again.

Thanks man. Yeah I've seen some threads about the belly pan on ttora lol. I was thinking about getting the metal miller front skid now and getting the budbuilt belly pan and cross member later on down the road. You think they would bolt up okay? If not I might save up a little longer and just get the budbuilt combo deal that includes the front skid, belly pan and cross member.

Im not sure, I wouldnt risk it. I say save a little longer and get the bud builts. I would really suggest reinforcing them before they get banged up, it would make it so much easier and save a bigger headache down the road. Im learning the hard way :D Other than that, I like them!

Thanks man! I'll definitely look into getting the belly pan reinforced whenever I am able to get my skids. :D

Went out with some friends in a couple chevys and fords. It was supposed to be a nice easy run where I just show them around, but then I saw this hill and had to try it. I made it to the top but now I have a loud popping noise in the rear diff. It sounds terrible. I think its the ring and pinion so my plan is to re-gear front and rear to 4:88 and put an ARB in the front. I know it will be bad on the interstate until I get 35s, oh well. Heres the video, I was some what aggitated in the beginning because I had already tried a couple times. I know it was dumb and I probably shouldnt have done it, but oh well, it was fun and now i have an excuse to re-gear and get a front locker.

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
lol 100% guaranteed you sheared the pinion gear and spun the ring on the pinion gear as well. I know. This just happened to my buddy when I was with him and his truck has been sitting in my driveway for 2 weeks, got 5.29 G2's, Detroit rear with a high pinion 3rd! OH YEAH!!! expensive as fuck, but I told him it was worth it

    4.88s with 35s? wtf
why don't you just go 5.29s and get it over with..5.29s will push 35s better.
IMO..well that's how it is on Toyota Pickups at least..i assume Tacomas would be the same?

Thats what I thought to, but it drove home fine. Just had a loud popping noise, no slippage so it made me wonder.

I do a lot of highway driving so I would be at lower RPMs at 75 with the 4:88s than the 5:29s getting better mpgs. I plan to get a crawler sometime soon after to help with crawling. I dont want to be at 3200 rpms cruising on the interstate.
