n00b question:

when you put the extended lug nuts on from all pro...do you put them on the original hub or on the spacer (on the outside of the wheel)?

 

Oh the hub. The spacers bolts are more then long enough for the wheels, but they are thicker then most wheels so the fronts hubs bolts aren't very long.

once you get them you will see how much the ET lugs help. They help A LOT. Definitely get some for the front, not really need for the back..but hey, they are cheap and why take chances?

The only thing i have against wheels spacers is they screw up your wheel off-set. It can be hard on your CV's and other moving parts. I just learned about this so im not 100% clear on how it all works, but when you buy wheels you want them to have 0 off-set. Its much easier on your parts when your in 4wd and making hard turns and movements.

 

What?? Offset?? No..lol wheel spacers do not affect offset, that is determined by your rim. Wheel spacers change you Back spacing in a way. Offset has to do with the other side of the wheel man.

Wheel spacers do not cause any damage to your vehicle what so ever. They are actually quite safe if installed correctly and well maintained. It does absolutely nothing to the CVs as all you are doing is extending the mounting surface for the wheel..nothing else changes. Its actually safer to get wheel spacers when you lift a vehicle to gain a wider stance.

Suspension spacers preload coils and put leaf packs on a smaller surface and cause bad leverage which in turns causes pre mature wear on your suspension, potentially hurting your truck...that is bad.

 

isnt back spacing and offset the same man? spacers do change your offset, say if your wheels have a +20 offset and you add a 20mm spacer that offset changes to 0 when its mounted on your car.

it all depends on what car your driving to determine the best offset. im not sure what the best offset for tacomas is but you def dont wanna be running a 0 offset on a honda civic thats for sure

 

No offset goes one way, back spacing is a the other way.

Offset has to so with were the bolting part of the wheel is in coloration to the center of the wheel. Back spacing is the bolting part to the edge of the rim. So 20mm offset is 20mm towards the outside of the car. -20mm offset is 20mm towards the car. Lower the offset, the deeper the rim.

Lower the backspacing the deeper the rim as well, but its just measured from a different place. 4'' BS means there is 4'' from the bolting surface to the inside lip of the rim. Thats why with 12.5'' rims your want like 3.75 because your wheel gets pushed out more from the mounting surface. You could also go by offset if you'd want to. Idk why we don't here actually. On my supra forums we all talk offset. Here its all back spacing.

Offset never changes for a rim. Backspacing can. They are just two different ways of measuring wheels.

I acually thing we go by BS and no offset due to that fact as we can push the rim out which in a way changes the backspacing. But the rim is unchanged so its offset doesn't change.

The XRC8 (original) wont free spool right now. According to Smittybilt its just jamed so I have to pull it out to fix it. That means pulling the bumper off and all anyway. So I figured why not.

My buddy is going to buy the original off from me. Plus, Smittybilt is running a special for the month of December, $50 rebate, on the X20 10K model so it became the proverbial "no brainer" for me.

 

ahhh okay haha well too bad..i woulda maybe taken it..haha

but sweet deal! im sure you'll have to use it on me at moab at some point..

You know, new ones are not that expensive. I think you can get an XRC8 with steel cable new for like $300.
