My truck is a 96 4x4 v6 5 spd Tacoma and has been dubbed Frankenstein. Why? well..because most of the parts on it are not original. And by the time Im done with it, hardly anything will. I rolled the truck in May 2012 while at the Taco Take Over meet. Was a great meet..besides the roll over and my hand breakin. But you should go!

anyways, i did't have full coverage on insurance and didn't have any money for a new truck. I found a 2wd 1996 body for 500 bucks in ID and bought it and swapped it onto my 4wd frame and drive line over the period of the next 2 months. That is why you'll see some of the earlier pictures of my build are the awesome cool metallic silver, and why now its the dark green. Hope to repaint it one day maybe.

Anyways, that is why this thread is like 2 builds in one. Pre roll over, and post roll over. The first 45 pages or so are pre roll and 45 and beyond on post roll over.

I have gone through and tired my best to reorganize this post so everything should be linked. This thread is much longer and filled with lots of info and BS haha i have done my best to try and help you find specific things in my build for you. But please. Don't hesitate to flat out ask. I love how open this thread is about people asking questions and it doesn't even have to be related to my truck. We will help you!

Basically if its blue..its click able and will take you to a specific post in this thread or other where i have done write ups or how to's and trip reports.

Just put on two of my four Hella 500ffs converted to HID. They are 55w, two are 4300k and two are 6000k. My silly bull bar had two places for light on it already but i think i might drill all new holes to fit all 4 lights i think...idk about that yet.

here is my switch location. I tell ya, that was a PITA to make that hole for the switch in that plastic plug. But turned out great.

    Thanks trd7 :)

and socar i didn't do a write up really on the lights. However i have to install a second relay and switch anyways so i will be sure to do a mini write up then of how i put the switch in. I can tell you now that it was a big PIA but well worth it IMO :)

Got it all installed! Even got my dads 2008 old Ubolts which were pretty much new. Got to use a coil compressor at a tire shop for free too :D I must say i was kinda disapointed in the lift the leaf packs gave with the shock shackles, so i ended up using my Toyotec 1.5'' shackles. Here are all the pics!....now i need bigger tires...

i went with 8.5s....but now i wish i had gotten longer. I am gonna need longer ones as ill prolly get the Wheelers AAL that they have for their packs. The rear is just a tiny bit lower then the front and id rather have a high rear then a lower one. Dan said id get about 1-1.5'' of lift from the AAL unloaded. So i think ill need the longer brake cable after that(i defiantly don need it now, have plenty of slack) and ill prolly get longer shocks too. so if ya want these, ill be selling em soon me thinks :p lol

ah yea, i kinda wish i had gotten expos now..cheaper and get tons of lift. But i think JLee is running the 10'' ones...i think..not sure. He also has much bigger bump stops too.

Edit:Yea man JLee has the 10.5'' shocks with the Expo packs. He also has them custom mounted different then stock. And has drop shackles so he has like 4-5'' of lift in the rear.

You can always install the packs then do the measure test to figure out what would work best for you.

Im slowly bulding up my list of supplies for the rear done, idk if its going to look weird with that much lift or not but hopefully not, i hardly tow anything but i dont want to be sagging either

Yeah well stay tuned to see what mine looks like with the AAL. Maybe that will help make up your mind :p

And i know about the sagging thing. I didn't want that either. But i have my lawn trailer hooked up right now and i didn't sag very much at all. Like an inch or two. The Expos tho i can promise will be pretty damn bumpy to ride on without some weight in the back. (according the JLee) So depending on if you'll have a plate bumper and other stuff in the back, you might not need them.

I think if i can get my truck the way i want it...ill need the Expos. I want a rock cawler/trail riding expo truck. So ill have tons of gear when its all said in done. But untill then i think these will do fine..

Still..sometimes i wonder why i went for $459 5pks(soon to be 529 6 pks) when the all pros Expos are 349...*sigh* oh well..thats what i get for not shopping long enough haha i got mine in the Wheelers GB.

sounds good man, i just want to be able to sit level with just my toolbox plus its 100 or so pounds of crap, and when i get my bedrack finished up and have my tire and all mounted up on it with the hi lift and shovel and what not that will add a bit of weight then when i get the rear bumper put on it should also add a bit of weight over stock but i occasionally pull the boat to the lake and a trailer every now and then, thats when i want it to be sittin level!

& where are the expos at for 349? i havent started lookin yet but it wouldnt hurt to know!
