Did you tell them oversize or no? Seems about right. Make sure it's a good reputable shop.

Yeah (I guess) it sounds like they know what they're doing, here's part of his reply to my email

    http://delusionh.com/

They get a full 5 stars on their FB page, but honestly I don't know how legit a FB rating really is.

Just throw the old headgasket back on, semi-tighten a couple bolts and call it good.... right? :anonymous:

Been working on a lot of reading up, especially on the math thanks to the tech section on Garrett's site. Also talked briefly with LCE. I'm gonna try working out some spreadsheets to get an idea of the minumum and maximum parameters necessary in order to reach a target 500hp. I figure in actuality it'll be lower then 500, I just wanted to base it on that to give this setup some breathing room.

So far the updated tentative list for the engine includes

    (Mostly LCE parts)
Forged rods & pistons with an 8.3:1 compression
    Stage 3 cams
    HD valve springs
    Paradise intake manifold

Think I can make do with OE valves, or should I really go balls out and have the cylinder head modified for 1mm oversized valves and get a stage 3 valve train kit?

    500hp?!...wow. haha okay then..

yes do the valves. It'll help head flow a lot..and if your shooting even for 450ish..you'll want the over built.

Holy crap 500hp! Thats a freaking ton for a 4cyl!

Can the transmission/clutch/transfer case handle that?

Damn, so much for just slapping a turbo on it. Def gonna want to raise your RPM's and you need to add a tuner on that list. For 500 hp I would consider stand alone. 90% of not blowing your engine is having a proper tune.

Yeah you'll have to rev to 9 grand to get that kind of power lol.

Your build looks good, should make a comfortable 300 or so if you keep the boost reasonable.

Yeah, based on some of the calculations, it was looking to be around 8k rpms which is why I knew I should be getting the HD valve springs since they're rated for 10k.

I knew from the get-go a stand alone was likely gonna be implemented. :anonymous: It also looks like the 6758 or the 7163 turbos are better suited for the job.

8k would be very impressive with a 95mm stroke. Going to want to look into some light weight, high strength rods. If you have the $$$ to drop, check these guys out:

    http://www.rrconnectingrods.com/steel-connecting-rods/steel-connecting-rods.html

Their Alu rods are sick and their Ti rods are redonculous. Ti and Alu do fatigue over time but my neighbor had some custom alu rods in his +600 hp turbo miata with over 10k racing miles on them (upwards of 11k rpms). He's had to replace EVERYTHING but the rods :p

Otherwise, I think 6500-7000 would be good for +400hp easy depending on the turbo.

To put 8k RPM's into perspective, this is a list of the fastest piston speeds (production engines):

    1. Jon's 3rz
    Engine Code: BAMF
    Bore/Stroke: 3.74" X 3.74"

    Redline: 8000rpm
    Piston Speed: 4987 Ft/min

Lol take this thing to the drag strip in about 3 years when it's all done haha you'll be getting some funny looks until you lift a 40 off the ground coming off the line.
