I got in on JLee's group buy for his BAMF rear diff skid a month or so ago. Haven't had a chance to really test it out yet but here's some pics. I'll follow up once I've had a chance to bounce it off some rocks

I had planned on waiting to get bumpers until later, but then Tim went and had group buys on both the front and rear bumpers. That deal along with getting combined freight shipping to the east coast was too good a deal to pass up. So I ordered up front and rear Elite bumpers.

4 months later...


For the front bumper I got the following options:
- Half guard hoop
- High clearance version
- Fog light holes

Here it is all painted and mounted up (I took off the shackles later since they were just going to rattle around and create rust):





For my turn signals I got a pair of 30cm long amber flexible LED light strips off eBay for about 10 bucks. I drilled a small hole to run the wires through and followed this write up to get rid of the hyperblink. The strips had an adhesive backing so I stuck them above the fog light holes on the thin angled part in between the front face and top of the bumper. Some pics of them lit up when I was test fitting the bumper:







Since I don't have a winch yet I wanted to cover up the holes in the front to protect the radiator. I bought some mesh from the hardware store and some 3M command "picture hanging" strips. These are like a plastic form of velcro (like how an EZ-Pass attaches to the windshield for those of you that have one). The idea being that I should be able to remove these cleanly if/when I get a winch. Stick some strips on the inside of the bumper and on the mesh so it lines up and press together:

 

Oh, and I had to bend the front of my Skid Row skid plate a little bit so it would fit with the bumper.

 

For the rear bumper I got:
- Wrap around sides
- Integrated hitch
- High lift points

Test fitting:



And then all painted:







Since I have a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust my exhaust tip is much closer to the body than stock.



Which was too close for the wraps.



So I chopped off the tip. We'll see if that passes inspection here in PA. It's supposed to extend to the edge of the vehicle body...



I got a flip up license plate holder instead of using the receiver mount holder Tim sent. And an LED license plate light bar.

 

man. you have really changed that truck. i really like the turn signals on the new bumper.

 

Those are my favorite bumpers. They don't look the same on the second gen though. Love how they look on first gen. nice work.

 

where did you get that license plate flip? i need one.......

Ha, I think I'm set on the KM2's. Gotta find out where I can get them siped and shop around.

How was boating... I mean wheeling this weekend?

 

It was a good time. For those that didn't see it my alternator went bad. I guess that happens when you plow through mud puddles and end up looking like this:



So I took it out, pulled it apart, and cleaned it by the camp fire.



After letting it dry out overnight I put it back in and all was well.

Glad you got it back up and running. Sounds like a you guys had a blast. As much as I hate swimming, wish I were there.
