I like the wheels as well.

What's your frame height at? Are they hitting the tubbed area at all?

haha Thanks, man. I was considering powdercoating them black, but I think I'll leave them for a bit and see if they grow on me more....

Frame height is 21" at the front and 21 1/2" at the back of the cab

As for rubbing the tubbed area... during daily driving, no. But I definitely have to re-tub before going off-road.

The wheels are 17x8 with a 0 offset (4.5" backspacing). In preparation to fit these, I bought a pair of 1.5" wheels spacers and a pair of 2" wheel spacers. (Mark's old one's, actually...) I did this so I could experiment which ones would work best on the front (least amount of rubbing overall). Right now, I'm running the 1.5"s up front which is keeping the tire away from the firewall and cab mount, but I have to be careful when turning since it rubs the frame like crazy!! My plan is to bring the 2.0" spacers to the front, (which will bring the tire out of the frame a bit, but unfortunately push it deeper into the firewall/cab mount area) and I'll re-tub as much as I can. If I can eliminate rubbing at the cab mount/firewall with the 2" spacers at full stuff and anyway the steering wheel is pointed, it will be ideal. If, for some reason, I cut as much as I can on the cab mount and firewall, and it still rubs with the 2"ers, I'll just throw the 1.5 spacers back up front and figure out a way to limit the steering to keep it off the frame...

Yeah that's why I tubbed as much as I could the first time, so there wouldn't be a 2nd.:D

Might sound crazy/stupid... could you cut/clearance and reinforce the frame so it won't rub?

...Actually, similar to what Wyatt did here for coilovers.

This is what I'll be doing to fit the ORI's on my rear axle.

lol That's funny... Shakedown maybe this weekend. Have to finsihing tubbing first.
You think so?? Don't get me wrong, I think that's actually a very good idea since there is room to do it, and That would mean you don't have to push the tire out so far... which is better for a lot of things. I don't want to comprimise the frame with my relatively little experience with welding... and I kinda think tubbing would be easier. :notsure:

Yeah tubbing was kind of a PITA. The farther back you cut, the more you get into the difficult areas with more sheet. Can't tell you how much time it took and how many cut-off wheels I had to go through.

    2012-05-06_12-15-11_399_e55e2afea9a5c0f8de15def0de3e5555e5d31c0b.jpg

The frame would be a really simple cut. Keep the back/inner and top/bottom sides of the frame and just plate/reinforce it all. Could even reinforce the back/inner side of the frame from the inside right after the initial cutting.

I just removed my wheel spacers a couple weeks ago, and my 35"s are rubbing the frame pretty bad. So unless someone thinks this is a bad idea, I just might do this myself when I buy a new welder here soon. :spy:

Top view of what I had in mind.
