I take it your cv's survived? Did you try to push them (or at least use them like you will expect too) or did you baby them for the first run?

Hummm... good question. I believe if I upgraded to Tundra brakes and watched the tongue weight, it would tow just fine.. I know my reciever could handle it very well, it's geared right for towing, the wide tires would handle the weight nicely, and the chevy half ton springs would be fine...

But yes, I have considered coils and a 3 link, or even coilovers.... but I decided against it since my rear would seeeriously out perform the front. SAC would have to come before going further, me thinks...
    lol good question :D
Yup!!! :yay: :) It was a tad slicker out there from the last rainfall.... so traction was low, but I did not take it easy on the throttle. Tomtom knows... :D:p hahaha Not gonna lie, I was definately more worried being the first time... but everything stood up to my expectations:cool:

He was trying obstacles that I've seen an XJ with 35's have troubles with. Everything held together and made some of it look easy.

lol yeah....considering that the bottom of my reciever to the ground is 33" I think I would need at least a 12" drop hitch! and yes, the rear definately outperforms the rear in travel, but not to the extent a linked suspension would. Also, one area the front outperforms the rear (and would no longer be so if I linked it) is axle wrap. While it's not bad, and could be helped with a trac bar... Simply due to it's nature, I think a leaf spring suspension will always have more axle wrap than an independant suspension. :notsure:

 Sweet pic!! Makes me want to move to Abq so I can make more of the meets.

I've got Chevy's on my truck, with 33s still, and I use a 5-1/4" drop with the stock ifs for now but the loads in the trailers I tow level out the truck.

Hey Silas, Any idea what your rig weighs? We were discussing breaking CV's on 1st gens and I was wondering if you fair well cuz you are lighter than some of the heavier armored rigs that a lot of people build theirs into. Like rctoy, he practically breaks a CV every time he goes out and he is on 35's with 4.88's. He is S/C'd which I'm sure doesn't help but he also weighs close to 6000lbs with all his armor and tools/spare parts he carries on him all the time.

Yeah, I'm not sure where he hides all that weight. haha. He is a double cab though. Mine weighed 5K when I bought it, but 2nd gens are bigger in general. I've since added my armor and tires.

so how much extra flex did the rear shock mounting location change give? also what length stroke shocks are those?

Potentially, (once the springs are broken in more) It'll have a good 6" more articulation (or more) at the tire than my previous all-pro expo/10" billy set-up. Right now, since the springs are still gdtting broken in, it's about 3" more flex with a good 2-3" of shaft left unused in the drooping shock.

    The Foxes are 14" stroke
