    caged, camburg long travel, 50t leafpack (soon to be installed) light rack over cab, 5pt harnesses etc
    im really liking this build. i will be coming here when doing my rear LT.

    also curious to differences with mounting shock angled forward, or backward

    Yeah thats why I'm asking here, not sure if angle matters. It shouldn't really make a difference when its this close to vertical. But I figured I'd double check.

    Well 1:1 is ideal for shock Valving, as the more angle the harder it becomes to tune them etc.

    I'm trying to find the real explaination for why you should angle them forward.

    In regards to the bump issue, there really shouldn't be one, how far off the frame are you mounting them? You could also look into what Infamous Metal Works did on one of their 1st Gen builds. I'd post pics but I'm on my phone.

    The shocks are mounted 2" off the axle, so I might be able to go vertical.
    I dont really want to patch the holes and cut new ones but it wouldnt be the end of the world. Or mount the shocks father off the axle. I dont have my bumps yet so I dont know how much room they need.

    It's realistically not a whole lot. Look at Cole's build (blackhawk250) as he has good pic of the shocks outboard mounted and what not.

    His are angled forward though, but I see what you mean. I'll keep them the way they are right now.

    I don't see it being an issue slanting them towards the rear. Just different. I don't enough knowledge on the subject to comment on one or the other.

    Even if you do mount your shocks that way, Id make the hole in your bed bigger. Your axle is gonna have more slop and movement than that. But I'm pretty sure at that angle youre going to have less than a 1:1 ratio. And I know this has been argued before, but the way ive seen it and tested, about 30* forward works good. You could pull 18" with a 14" shock.

    Or you could put a piece of cardboard on top of your frame, and with a sharpie in the top eyelet and the shock collapsed draw an arch. And then again at full extension. Where they meet is 1:1

    My lines will never cross:D I have 18" shocks and will be pulling 17" ish of travel. It would be like dividing by zero.

    And the holes should be fine I think. Looking at other guys' setups, they have smaller cut-outs.

    Tacoma with some stuff melted to it
    When you do this you have to valve the shock much heavier because of the leverage, which creates more heat. Then you have a smaller 14" shock instead of an 18" shock which doesnt have as much fluid to cool the shock

    Yep, duals just like everyone else and their dog.
    And I'm not sure what I'm doing for mounts yet, but the shock will sit off the pipe because I didn't want to bolt right onto the pipe.

    Yeah definitely don't do single shear. Learned my lesson with that haha.
    Would be pretty simple to just add another tube that wraps around the shock.
