Yeah its the model difference.. for some reason or another when you put an LED bulb in either the dome or the map lights it only shines bright when the key is in the ACC position or its running, otherwise it just barely glows. You have to run a 100 ohm 1 watt resistor across the bulb to fix that.

Oh damn, even more reason for me to swap front ends instead of buying a 01-04 :D

Yeah those resistors are some serious $$$. Like a whole $1 + solder time haha

Haha I'm just not good with tedious electrical stuff like that. I can do sound systems and hid's and that's about it. I'm out when I see resistors and complex wiring diagrams. Just don't have any experience with it.

Granted I've never done this exact project (I did make a cigar box guitar amp in 8th grade though), but soldering a resistor on there isn't hard at all.
I'm sure someone on here could show you exactly where to solder it so you really wouldn't have to be able to understand wiring diagrams.. I suck at those too lol

Ha well I have a 2000 so I don't have to worry about it! And soldering isn't the issue, I just don't fully understand what they do therefore I don't understand how to use them properly. If you hand me the things I need I can put it together but I like to know everything about everything and want to be able to gather what I need... If any of that makes sense lol. I'll stop rambling on TacoSkeet's thread now.. :p

You did what I wanted to do by painting your shrouds black. I got too lazy/anxious and ended up messing up the threads when I did a test fit. So I kept them plain. I like the look still, but I kind of want to take them apart and paint the shrouds still. Nice truck!

I was a little hesitant about painting them at first but I went ahead and did it and it turned out looking better than I thought. I'm very pleased with the guys at TRS!

You know what might look sweet? If you painted your whole housing and shrouds gunmetal to match your theme! I plan on doing my housings and shrouds flat black but gunmetal on yours would look sick. I wonder if anyone has ever done it? I'll see what I can find.

Thanks, I love them so far! After you take the headlights off the truck and remove all the clips and anything plastic you just pop them in the over for 8 minutes on 300. Use a flat head screwdriver and pry the lens off (not as hard as it may sound) After you do the retrofit, I just put mine back in the oven for like 4 minutes to heat the glue back up and the lens went right back on without a problem. No condensation and no leaking.

I thought about painting my shrouds the graphite color, but I dont know if it would be noticeable. I don't really want to paint my housings though, I'm trying to keep the black/ graphite as an accent. I dont want to overload if you know what I mean

It's your truck, but I do think it would look good and be a nice subtle touch. I got the headlights and corner lights in my sig pic off ebay for $109 free shipping. No issues with fogging but that doesn't matter if you're going to pop them open anyway lol.

Here's a pic of some black housings. Will look similar to gunmetal just to give you an idea.
