You would take pics that make skids look beautiful! Haha

I want skids so bad, but they won't get used by the time I get them... :(

I'm still debating on whether to clear coat the plain steel or paint it black.

Have a spot in the bed to mount the gas cans. Need a way to secure them.

and now that i think of it, a good way with a square plate keep them from sliding and a single ratchet strap to hold them down.

NATO (as in North Atlantic Treaty Organization and not internet yelling) gas cans.

    http://www.lexingtoncontainercompany.com/Nato-Jerry-Cans.html

Way better than anything else out there. The lid seals up nicely and won't leak. Can get extra rubber lid seals if they wear out. The pour spout latches up nicely and doesn't spill like some other metal gas cans I've tried...

Oh nice! I thought they were plastic. I'll have to look into them. I don't know how I feel about the metal, but that's ok. Do they vent OK?

Too cold up there for metal or another reason you're not hip to material?

I haven't actually used them yet. The last run we did, one of the guys used his. Poured in no problem. Don't remember how fast it took. No spillage.

PCBuilder14 may be able to give a better description. I think he was the one pouring.

I'm going to let it ride for awhile and decide. Nice thing about painting it, is I can change the colour whenever I want, just takes some time and elbow grease.

The other thing I may do is paint the lip black to cover up the cut line then clear coat the rest. Good times.

I prefer plastic for less weight and not rusting. If something slid around in the bed and dented the can, I'd be worried about the paint on the inside chipping and rusting. Probably a long shot but just what comes to mind. And yeah, they'd be very uncomfortable to pour without gloves in the winter haha. But I've got multiple pairs of gloves so that's not a problem.

Does it get cold enough up there that the plastic cans get brittle?

Nah. Not where I'm at. Valid point but we average temps around 10-20 in the winter. We see some temps -10 or lower every once in a while but I'm not wheeling in that lol. I haven't seen anything cold enough to make them that brittle.

I lived on Adak long, long time ago. Nice thing was that it never got as cold as the mainland. Couldn't even imagine what living inland in Fairbanks is like.

Yeah I'm sure our temps are a little colder than Adak, but not by much. Fairbanks has to be terrible. -30 is pretty standard up there. Just awful haha.

Long night working with SGT Taco to get the electrical completed. Almost finished. Got the light switches and amp power wired in. Still have to wire up the speakers and do the sound treatment but definitely getting near the end. Will get some pictures posted later today.

Big huge THANKS to SGT Taco. Got most of the wiring done up.

Got the dash switches done up for the fog and off-road lights.

    And there was light:

We redid the engine bay wiring for the fuze box, adding a power bus so the amp could be added.

And the back end of the amp, underneath the seat:

Just need to get the sound treatment kit ordered then finish up the audio install.
