100% Royal Purple fluids and K&N intake.
Thanks for the advice. Just bought the Toy. Sat. but have already Amazoned for Royal Purple fluids from end to end. Don't know this V-6 yet. Can I inspect timing belt(s) with a dental mirror or.......? Trucks been well taken care of so last owner probably did the belt(s).Not gonna off road much - all we have is beachs - the highest point in central Florida on the Atlantic would be the bridge over the ICW!

Went shooting couple weeks ago to try a new gun and shoot some older ones.aa1_zps4a01b010_2e3697327568fdbd9a23004a934768323ad739d3.jpg

FINALLY got my seat covers... after the WO fiasco I got these Caltrends for $135 and less than 2 weeks after ordering them. They look decent, if I can get 4-5 years of solid service out of them I'll be reasonably happy.

I replaced a part on my truck that didn't need to be replaced... a lesson learned, and a realization that only driving the Tacoma once every week or two has left me not nearly "in tune" with the vehicle like I was before when I knew every feel and sound and nuance.

I replaced the right CV because when I have it up on all fours with 4-wheel engaged the right front tire struggled to turn. Plus I heard "noises" coming from that area on occasion while driving that sounded something like a CV going bad. Put in a new CV half axle and it did the same thing!

Suddenly it occurred to me that it was normal because it's not like there's a locker there. So I stopped the spinning left front and what do you know... the right front started spinning just fine. Maybe it's the different length or age or make or 1 degree angle difference or who knows, something insignificant that makes one tire turn more than another when idling suspended.

Well that's my random mini-rant... now I have a used back-up CV, no biggie. Also change the rear brake shoes too.

Did a little rock crawling Jan 19 east of Phoenix (updated trip reports in first post). Sustained moderate damage to my passenger side cab behind the door. This blows... I might live with it or look for a cheap Mexican shop to pound it out a little and bondo it, then get it colormatch sprayed at Maaco or something.

I plan on using the truck for another 4-5 years and I'm not crazy about a gash in the sheetmetal, but it's a little hard to justify a high quality/cost fix when it already has a hundred scrapes and dings, fading paint, 210,000+ miles, rarely driven, etc.

Its been awhile but here is my write up
Ok so I started with a flo n go max flo that I got off of Amazon
    914249513591619acc6a0154e3eb8e48_zps4404_8861380eaf5aea411580992114da44c4469603b8.jpg
The hose wasn't quite long enough so I went and got some 1/2 in hose to extend the length out ( I need to cut it down some now it's too long ) also got some 1/2in plastic junctions and some tube clamps
    Ended up with this
    3f641ec924f7ae2637a6a75373b4ee50_zpsd204_3ada79707da35e3490c37332ba451f4e653156e8.jpg
So I have 3 fuel tanks that I can use (2) 5gal tanks and (1) 6gal boat fuel tank.
    8982254379599856b1946f818727d990_zps8ee8_f6721642c3b749dd9755440f85451ddddecb6ab0.jpg
I trimmed the fuel pick up tube so it would be just above the bottom of the 5 gal tanks and for the boat tank I just put it in at an angle.
All 3 will be mounted on the front side of the rack. 0f2421762f87992249e8fa3f4bff0ac5_zpse9b4_5b98663e1ac67cb687bf6307b26ecc350f00b153.jpg
And to get flow started just push down on the black tab and give the handle a few priming pumps and then just hold it open. The flow is pretty good once it starts flowing. Now I just need to make some thing to hold the handle full open so I don't have to hold my hand on it.
    5 gal

    6 gal

Obviously there is enough slack to just leave the tanks all strapped down and just remove the caps and just insert the fuel pic up tube. All done and coiled up.

Thanks for the update. Might be a dumb question, but will it pump from the tailgate, in case you had the fuel in your bed... or even from the ground? I suspect it might but the flow may be terrible.

The flow from the bed wasn't too bad once the flow is primed by pumping the handle. But I still have normal fuel spouts in the five gal cans if anything happens to the hose.

Caltrends Neoprene seat cover update: These have been on since early December and have seen medium-hard use. Although the price was reasonable and shipping fast, I'm afraid these are not holding up too well. I'll edit a pic on here when I get the chance, but there is some fraying on the driver seat. I'm pretty disappointed.

Rear spring update: I removed the 5 year old Wheelers 5 leaf HD springs because I broke one (see pic in previous post). I put on new OME Dakars and went back to my trusty (and cheap) shocks I like from before. I was not real happy with the Rancho 9000s. Here is a thread on that.

I did take the camp trailer out with the family...
    c1_zps5a02c1dd_2768e641da5b2523c6501043f61e47f20017d6ea.jpg

And did some night fishing at the lake...

Managed to go turkey hunting, my first real turkey hunt. I am familiar with the area, but I wasn't able to turkey scout and had no idea where the turkey were. For that reason this was a camping/get-away trip with the slight chance of bagging a turkey;)

    Turkeys 1, Hunter 0.

Still had a great time enjoying the outdoors and exploring. Read one book and listened to another audiobook. I pondered philosophy and solved some of the world's problems. I haven't really dry camped in one spot for a while. I've usually got the Mobile HQ (camp trailer) or I'm in recon/overland mode and just throw out my bed before dark, sleep, and pack it up and go first thing in the morning.

Yep, one of my favorite areas in the state. I did come across a parked, mostly stock 1st gen quad cab at the Kinder Crossing trailhead.

were you camped off of 300 just below the rim? my brother and I were hunting off of 141 and 300. heard turkeys every time we were in there just couldn't get them to come in. I was driving my blue Tacoma.

was headed back to see if I couldn't get my son a turkey and this happened http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/329338-truck-deer-dont-mix.html

I was off 139 closer to Blue Ridge Res than 300. Didn't see or hear turkey. At least I don't think I heard some... I seemed to be talking to a lot of birds but I don't think any were turkey.

Wow, sorry about your truck. I've had a deer jump over my hood but I've never hit one. As much as I drive 260 and 87, it may happen someday. Hopefully your Tacoma will come out better than it was before.

Pretty slow on the wheeling... did the White Tanks area near home, almost lost it sideways on a particularly -no, VERY- steep downhill when the ass of the truck wanted to catch up to the front. Did some shooting, including some exploding targets.

Have gone fishing 5 or 6 times since May... nothing spectacular to report, although I did catch a 10lb carp on an ultralight with 4lb line.

I got an alignment, tires balanced and rotated, and changed some fluids in prep for the 5 night Colorado trip coming in a few weeks. All systems go
