Dropped the engine back in the truck last night- or should I say, this morning at 1:31 AM, ten minutes before I had to leave for my paper route. Spent the day (after catching three hours of sleep after the route) buttoning the truck up. Got just about everything done under the hood- everything is back in place. I was throwing some oil in it and one of my buddy's damn dogs ran into me while I was pouring it- got g*d-d*mn oil all over my nice pretty valve cover and down the side of the block. I was pissed. Mopped it all up, but we'll still probably have to shoot it with some degreaser and hose it down. Tomorrow, I'm going to make a run to Advance before Robert gets off work and pick up an air filter, some antifreeze, (we forgot to grab some when we got all the other fluids the other day) and some spark plug wires.
So we'll see... tomorrow will be the real test- we shall find out if Stonewall Jackson shall arise from the dead!

Eh, but I like the dog. He's just about the cutest, dumbest thing I've ever met. Gotta love pitbulls! :D

 Yeah, the one that did this today was the youngest of his three- he's a great big (very handsome) oaf. Thinks he's still a tiny puppy. Everyone knows pitbulls are killers- they'll lick you to death! :D Pitbulls can't hold their licker.

Ran (literally) up to Advance. Grabbed some of the Prestone Dexcool to try- yeah, I know all of the green's gotta be flushed before I put this in- there's no problem, cos all the green is already gone. :D Also grabbed my air filter. They didn't have my spark plug wires, but the location in College Park does, so I'll be heading that way in a bit to go get those.

So... Stonewall Jackson has yet to rise. :pout:
Got everything buttoned up today (minus the spark plugs, so we could turn the engine to get it primed) and went to turn the key to get the remaining bad gas to shoot out of the hose into a container, and got nothing. After some testing and ensuring that there were no other problems, ended up finding out that my fuel pump is bad. I only had $54 bucks left of my savings, so there was no way I could afford to buy the fuel pump. (Before starting work on my truck, I had an even $1500- I've spent that much on this truck so far.) But my buddy gave me a loan so we could get the pump- It came out to an even $157, and he rounded what I owe him to $100.
I hate owing people money- in fact, I'd rather suffer whatever not having money brings before I ask someone for a loan, but he insisted- he said he'll be damned if this truck sits until I can find another job/make enough money doing odd jobs for people. I'm certainly beholden to him. All the money I make scrapping and on the paper route goes to my family, so I'll pay him by the couple lawns I'm picking up. (I'm resorting to the old standby of mowing yards until I can find a real job again, since I lost mine last month.) So anyways, f*ck you, fuel pump. Stonewall Jackson SHALL live again!

It started rough at first, but that's to be expected. The truck's probably in shock. "TOO MANY NEW PARTS! OVERLOAD, OVERLOAD!" Took him for a 15-minute neighborhood test drive after letting him sit and run for ten or so. Sat running another 10 after we got back. There's a bit of a stutter, always at the same time- discovered that the timing is off by 10.5 degrees, which explains it all! The brakes are in excellent shape, which I find quite surprising. Transmission seems to be shifting well. Haven't found any leaks of any sort yet. Gonna buy a new cap most likely- we are currently reusing the old one, which at first, had looked okay, but now doesn't. We cleared the codes after the initial start-up, and none have popped up. My buddy mentioned a possibility of new fuel injectors, but we will clean these ones as best as we can, may let them ride- I don't have $640 ($160 apiece) to buy new ones- this truck has broken me. Not a red cent (literally) to my name. :D
But hell, I'm excited. Stonewall Jackson has risen from the dead, and that's all I wanted.
Long live Stonewall, my pride and joy!

Easiest and cheapest fix ever! Bought a three dollar can of Valvoline Throttle Body Cleaner, cleaned it out, and bam! No more stumbling or hesitation! Who knew that just a little bit of crap in the throttle body around the edge of the throttle plate could really have that much of an effect? Stonewall runs like a champ now- this jank is a four cylinder Ferarri with a truck bed!

Already put 11 miles on it, just driving it around the neighborhood. No hood, no grille, still missing that corner light, no plates or sticker- just checking it out. I love how quick it is- quicker off the jump than my old Bustang- and the old Honda, for that matter. :D
Oh, also threw a cd faceplate on it. I was shocked to find out that all of my speakers work, and despite the fact that I don't have an antenna, my radio still works somewhat. Works fine sitting still, and works in and out when moving. And my AC is kick-ass! Froze me and Robert out of the truck within the first two minutes.

:D Surprisingly enough, I should be getting back my $800 from my parents. Water heater went a few months ago, and I payed for it, the parts, and for my friend/former boss to help me install it. I thought I'd never see that money again, but the taxes just came in, and Dad says he's gonna pay me back.

Here's the list of things I definitely need/need to do before the truck totally road-worthy/ready for inspection:
-Tires mounted and balanced (already bought them)
    -Windshield replacement
-New tailpipe/weld plate over hole in this one
-Fix fuel gauge (has to be a sensor, because everything Ohm'd right when I moved the gas float, and it's not sticking or anything.)
-New antenna (though I was shocked to find out that I can still sometimes hear the radio when stationary- has anyone ever heard of this happening?)
-Driver's side corner light (might buy the passenger side too so they match, but depends on if I have enough money)
-Fix wheel rub (front bumper tweaked from hit, same reason why corner light is missing)
-New headrest (missing one, for some reason)
-Fix back bumper (looks half pulled off, hard lean)

Also, does anyone know if an '87 4-runner grille will fit on a '96 Taco? Cos if so, I wanna do that. I like that grille much better.

What the fack, I'm confused. While I was out mowing a lawn down the street, my buddy pulled the throttle body apart today to put the new gasket on it and clean it out completely since my fingers could only reach the dirt but so far past the throttle plate when I cleaned it yesterday. He did so, slapped it back together, and fired it up- to find that the stumble is back worse than it ever was before. All we can figure is that he did something wrong, but we couldn't find anything. I wouldn't think that he'd make a mistake anyways- this guy is the best mechanic I know, and I've never known him to screw up. So we've been knocked back by God knows what- has anyone heard of something like this happening before? It's really driving us nuts. :/

    vacuum leak?

Did you hook up the vacuum lines correctly? Double check if you think you did.
