i wouldn't advise that if you want to still do rocky trails..be tippy as hell that high up. And the wind drag would not be fun.

I would probably only have it up there when camping/overlanding. My plan is to use a hoist system like this one to store the tent:

    http://www.amazon.com/Harken-4-Point-Hoister-System/dp/B00JQI46MA

Do you think having it that high would be a problem on the Wyoming runs you make once a year?

Thanks man! Honestly, the more I drive that thing the more I like it. I think it will be even better once I get a little bigger tire and a few inches of lift on it.

Joey did them all with his higher then mine. But was still 3-4" or more shorter then what yours will end up at. Joey lowered it after that trip though haha

Go for it and see what its like. I can say mine is coming down this summer.

^Are you going to mount it with the base around the top of your bed sides? One idea I had was to mount it at that height and hide it under my topper. Then, when I pull into camp, I'd fold the topper forward and pop the tent open.

Yea i am. But i also wanna just be more stable all around for mobbing some roads fast.

That is a good idea. Except packing and getting stuff out would be a bit of a PITA.

^That might be true... if you can't crawl under it, getting to the stuff up front would be kind of a pain. Do you put light stuff up there so you can grab it out from the side?

I pack my heavy stuff up against the cab. Stuff I dont plan on having to use. Like the oh shit kit. Then all the tools on top of it so I can get to them easy if needed. The kitchen stuff and food goes on the back half so I can get to it easy from the tail gate where the kitchen is. But that's just me. Everyone is different I feel like in the ways of packing. It's a black art almost haha

^That makes sense. I'll have to play around and figure it out. I want to have a plan (at least) before hitting White Rim.

What is the advantage of running tundra 5100's? I'm looking into different lift options and tundra 5100's with toytech coils seem like a good price point if they perform pretty well.

I'm thinking some time in May... Should be decent weather at least

So, there are two basic advantages to Tundra shocks. The first is that they are a wider body shock, so the resist over heating when cycled. The second is that they are longer than Taco shocks, so you can get "mid travel" range of motion out of them. Overall, I think 2nd gen taco coils with 1st gen tundra shocks are one of the best combos for front suspension... short of LT (flippin Monte)

That sounds like a really good way to go to me! I'm surprised I can't find more on this type of lifting. Everywhere I look its $1200 kits from the big manufacturers with mixed reviews. When I had my cherokee I built my lift out of mostly junkyard oem parts off other vehicles and it was a great setup. Yes long travel would be awesome, but way overkill for what I do. Now I need to figure out how I can build my own leaf spring pack.

Would it be too much to ask for a parts list that you used to lift the front of your taco?

    ^Yeah, I used the following:

1st Gen Tundra Bilstein 5100 shocks (255/70 valving due to weight)
2nd Gen Tacoma Toytec coilover springs (600lbs for bumper, winch, armor etc.)
Toytec coilover collars (converts 5100s to coilovers)
    Light Racing UCAs

    That's it!

I really feel like a newbe here. I'm struggling to find the tundra 5100s with 255/70 valving or the toytec collars.

So, what I did was call up Toytec because they don't sell a "kit" or anything like this setup.

I ordered this kit with 16" second gen springs:
    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com...e-coil-over-kit-for-Bilstein-5100s_p_361.html

Then I ordered 1st gen Tundra 5100s and assembled the coilover at home... easy to do.

You might have to really convince them to sell you this combo of parts because none of them match... it can be done!

Well, some friends and I got onto the Canyonlands reservation site last night and it was all booked up for May. Now, we're looking to go in Fall some time. Long story short, stop by on your way back to WY!
