Thanks man! I actually found some references to it online. Back in the early 1800s, it was called the Cogswell Tavern. After that, it was a boarding house called the Huntoon house. Some New Hampshire history books have pictures of the house in them.

    Check out page 74 here:
    https://books.google.com/books?id=P...nepage&q=cogswell tavern hampstead NH&f=false

Like I said, I'm excited. If you're ever in the Northeast, you should check it out.

Welcome to the North East. Looks like you've found ENH, might also want to check out Northeast Toyota Crawlers.

While we don't have the open space the West has, we've still got some great scenic area's, especially in NH and Maine. And as you may already know NH has thousands of miles of unmaintained roads as well as many thousands of miles of logging roads to Explore in northern NH amd Maine.

You going to the ENH fall crawl? Normally those ENH runs are dominated by heeps, but we've been trying to get more Yotas to go.

Sounds good, man. Also, just in case, I've got a separate guest apartment at the house. So, if you ever need a place to crash in NH, let me know!

    Hey Sloth,

Thanks for checking in. Like you said, I've found ENH but I haven't visited Northeast Toyota Crawlers. Is this the site?

    http://www.toyotacrawlers.com/forum/index.php

Also like you said, ENH seems to have a lot of Jeeps. But, it was fun running with them and surprising them with what my old IFS rig can do. As for Fall Crawl, it looks like fun. Are you going?

Yup that's the NTC site. They do a decent amount of runs, mostly on private land.

I'll be going to just Sunday of the fall crawl, but I think right now there's around 10 of us from TW going to the Fall Crawl. It's definitely a good time if you can make it.

I signed up to go on Saturday. I'll probably hang around for the campfire/potluck deal, but will head back towards home on Sunday. Looks like we'll just miss each other.

Bummer. I've had your build bookmarked for a few years from when I had my first gen.

There will be a decent amount of the other TW NE guys there Saturday, so you'll still have a good time.

Yeah, that's a bummer. We might stay up there Saturday night and come home on Sunday so, who knows... we might still run into each other. If not, we should just plan a NH run or two.

    Hey Sloth,
As a heads up, I just noticed you are signed up for Saturday, not Sunday, on the ENH site.

I attended Exploring New Hampshire's "Fall Crawl" this past Saturday. The "event" was an annual run organized by the Exploring New Hampshire forums and started with a Friday night run and ended on Sunday. I only attended on Saturday and here's a quick report.

I showed up to the meeting spot at about 8:30 and there were already about 30 rigs there. By the time we had the morning meeting, about 40 rigs were split into 4 groups, each of which were running a different route. There was one "stock" level run and 3 "Moderate" level runs. I was in a moderate group and the difficulty of the trails I ran were similar to Wheeler Lake but the style of terrain really reminded me of Spring Creek.

    20161022_083758_zps0lvy09bt_ac1d4d742578d07432f9e5112ceadac051eea77d.jpg

At 9am, our group headed to the trail.

The first trail was called "Devil's Pass". It had a number of boulder field filled hills that reminded me of the rock garden on Spring Creek. But the rocks were slightly smaller here, which means I didn't get my rear diff. hung up like I did in Spring Creek. In between these rock garden style hills there were larger rock faces to climb. The pace was such that I couldn't hand my camera to anyone to take pictures of my rig. So, the pictures will be mainly of the other rigs in my group. There were 2 second gen Tacomas, an 80 series LC, a 40 Series LC (heavily modded), a Grand Cherokee, a JKU, a TJ, a KLM motorcycle, and a Land Rover D110. A very diverse group!

The run was a lot of fun and my Tacoma did great. I never had to approach an obstacle twice. (trying to get my leafs to flex like 4runner links really paid off!) After this trail section, we hit some country side roads to get to the next trail. This one was called "Volkswagen Hill" because of an old Beetle Buggy that was abandoned on the side of the toughest hill on this trail. This one was tougher, especially because of constant rain falling on the leaf covered rocks. It was pretty slick. Fall colors were neat peak the entire way.

The final trail of the day was called "The Hills Have Eyes". This trail starts near a encampment style property owned by people who post strange signs and hang odd looking decorations from the trees. (Made from trash like gator aid bottles mixed with vines and other stuff) The last time a couple of members ran this trail, they saw the property owners killing chickens for dinner along side the road. I didn't slow down to take any pictures. This trail was scenic but easier than the last... except for one large rock obstacle at the end.

    20161022_152224_zps78qrj6rq_0a506274560c6f142dc54423f9de7c82112efd9d.jpg

5 of the 10 people in our group had to use a winch at this point. It took about 2 hours to get our 10 vehicles through this obstacle. I'll admit that, after waiting for the 2 vehicles in front of me for 30mins or so, I just hit my rear locker and walked through it. It would have been fun to see what I could do with open diffs (with hind sight) but the sun was starting to get low in the sky.

At the end of this trail, I split off and headed back home. The rest of the guys went to a potluck hosted by a member of the forum. Overall, it was a great day and I was glad to get the Tacoma out crawling again.

Glad.you had a good time at the Fall Crawl. I was there Sunday, fortunately it had dried out a little, but it was still Damn slick with all the leaves. My whole group was able to get through that last obstacle with no winching, but it still took some time. Rear locker makes a world of difference, and 4 link rear... The pictures don't do justice to hire narrow and off camber that obstacle is.

Definitely were a pretty diverse group of rigs which is cool to see. As much as people here tag on Heeps, stock rubis can do some pretty knarly stuff.

Yeah, it was slick out there for sure! I was happy with my Duratrac too. They expelled mud better than some of the mud terrains. I wish I took better pictures. You're right, the pictures don't show how steep, narrow or slick it was.

Thanks! If you ever are up in NH, let me know! It's funny that you mention Alton too. I am in the process of closing on a cabin up there right now!

I looked under my truck on Saturday and found that I had blown out a CV boot on the passenger side. I swapped out that CV for my spare, which is a CVJ high angle. Having a freshly rebooted driver's side means I can compare performance and see if this high angle boot is any better!

Just in case anyone vacations up in New Hampshire... Wifey and I just bought a cabin that we're renting out on VRBO. Check it out and, if you ever want to rent, PM me for a "friends and family discount"!
