Duratracs or MTRs. But really I have no idea haha. I want a tire to run all year but I know any MT will be sketchy on ice. So that leads me back to the duratracs but I don't now if they'll do much better than my current ATs in mud. And the whole sidewall strength makes me weary too. So basically I have no clue lol.

That's the plan if I do go MT. I love the looks of the MTRs but I've only seen one truck up here run them. Either that means they aren't that great for up here, not many are stocked in the local shops, or they are just so damn expensive. But thats what I'm leaning toward.

Haha yeah I notice that vibe on here. I love the looks of the KM2s too. I haven't priced them out either so I guess I may as well do that too.

Actually just spoke to a guy at work that has the MTRs on his F350 dually and said he loves them in the winter :notsure: he said they weren't bad at all on ice. Not what I expected him to say haha.

I've heard from more than one that km2's are horrible on ice, just disgusting in winter lol we had a member that ran 285 MT/R's, you could talk to him. Nick, av8er2012 I think is his username. He ran with us in Sutton and his truck did great

Fuck it. I'm going with the MTRs. I should probably be able to get a few hundred for my current tires to eat some of the cost. Plus I still have my studs if the MTRs completely suck in the winter.

Also my truck is leaning like a mother on the driver side. Front driver is an inch lower than the passenger. And the rear is probably close to the same. Anyone know if a top plate spacer on the driver side will help that? I already have a 5mm spacer on the bottom

FWIW I love my Duratracs. They've performed great for me in all terrains. I just don't air down past 15 for the sidewalls, also obviously try to avoid sharp rocks.

They've seen snow, sand, mud & boulders, as well as being my dd. I'm stoked on them, and have nothing bad to say about them.

    I'm running 265-75-16.

    Wonder what's causing your lean??

I know the duratracs are a great tire and will probably be perfect for me. The sidewall issues just scare me. I don't want to have to deal with that of I can avoid it. I don't do any rock crawling or anything but there are a few trails that have sharp rocks that can't be avoided.

As far as the lean, I'm guessing it's gotta do with my fat ass? Not sure haha. I expect some lean but didn't think it'd be an inch.

While under the truck checking my ballpoints for any play, I decided to find out what the annoying rattling noise is while my truck idles. I banged around a bit and found it. If I hit the exhaust pipe at the rear O2 sensor it sounds like a few things are rattling around in the pipe. I'm assuming this is the sensor that has disintegrated? Any ideas?

Also can't seem to keep my wheels balanced since installing them. After the initial install/balance they started wobbling after two weeks. Went back to get an alignment and balance and it lasted a little more than a week and now I get bad vibes at 65mph. I have a ton of play in my carrier bearing I noticed today so maybe that is the culprit.

Well, finally got the RTT today. Only about 5 months wait...lol. Pretty simple install with help from a buddy.

I will be sleeping in it tonight to test it haha. Probably won't get to use it camping for a couple weeks so I better get some use out of it in the meantime.

How are you liking the RTT on top of you cab as opposed to over the bed on the cap?

    Thanks

I do like it. Can't really compare it to having it over the bed though.

Spent a week in the tent last week on a fishing trip. Caught a lot of fish and had a good time. We had some crazy heavy rain and the tent did well. The annex was awesome for crawling in and out or for middle of the night peeing lol.

    All loaded up

    null_zps04997e0e_fb8a3453a48c639968623ecef821ca7847382565.jpg

Then I drove home to unpack and repack for one more night of fishing/camping 300 miles in the opposite direction lol.

And last night I picked up a 55" CVT awning from a TW member. Just installed it temporarily. It works fine as is but it's not the most secure. Gotta get better packing plates so it doesn't want to spin on the bar.

Eventually I'll mount it to the roof basket I have laying around but that probably won't happen until spring. Or if I get bored over the winter haha.

Ha thanks. I enjoy it. The awning should be pretty damn convenient. I'd like a 79 or 99" to go off the side, but I think a tarp would be better for me. I bring my fire pit close to it and I'd rather replace a tarp than the awning lol.

Well if you look closely, you'll notice the round, black, rubber things in the picture. Those are tires. :p

Not yet. I was pretty close to ordering the MTRs a few weeks ago but I just dropped $1,800 on repairs so tires will have to wait a while. I'm also leaning toward duratracs again haha.

Made my awning a bit more permanent until I put on the roof basket. Used the L brackets it came with and cut them down and re-drilled them to fit a u-bolt. Broke two brand new bits but that's ok.

Used my angle grinder to cut the brackets and then proceeded to use a small hand file to smooth the edges for about 15 minutes. Then realized I could use my grinder for that haha. I freskin love that thing. Very good investment...if you remember you own one

    Thanks man.

Took off after work last night for the night. Left later than planned so I put my lights to good use. Hadn't night wheeled before so that was fun/creepy especially alone haha. Only pic I've uploaded so far. Took a couple videos too. I'll post more later.

I really do love this trail. My plan was to fish today on the way back to town but I ended up sleeping too late lol.
