    ORIGINAL BUILD START:

Let's face it, I'm no master mechanic, fabricator, electrician or autobody repair man. This truck is the first car/truck I have had the balls to really mod and I'm enjoying doing whatever little things I can here and there to it. I was never taught anything beyond an oil change mechanically but always had the urge to wrench on stuff.

My first attempts started with motorcycles (since they were never my DD and easy to work on) and I surprised myself with my successes. My last car i was afraid to do anything beyond audio mods and cosmetic on (E46 BMW) because it was my DD and if I fucked something up it would probably be really expensive to fix.

The bright side about this truck is I feel like I can comfortably work on it without feeling like I will screw it up. It's basically a toy hauler for me (motorcycles) but will be occasionally used for wheeling, camping and other outdoor adventuring.

I'm in the middle of planning a wedding too so cash is low and budget is tight.

Here is what it looked like the day I got it:

    11208565_484981888332666_384432139_n.jpg

Then I went at the grill with an angle grinder and installed the billet grill:

Also installed clear and LED corners:

Put LED's in my dome and map lights:

Mounted HID'd Hella 700ff's behind the grill:

Mounted a black aluminum tool box and blitzpro's:

Tackled the wiring of my aux lights and mounting my switches yesterday:

I wanted the switches to be in the clock location and I wanted the install to look very clean but bad ass as well. Picked up a piece of lexan from home depot and painted one side black with plastic specific spray paint:

    IMG_2148_433096019b437d283f9180ed3a29a47f6b6dfe90.jpg

I then continued with the install/wiring. The blitzpro hook up was ezpz but the Hella's gave me trouble. I accidentally reversed the hook up and had my power going to the ground and the ground going to power. D'oh.

    Final products:

    Wiring inside the tool box:

Just found this list from when I first started modding:

    Future plans:
    Tube front bumper DONE
    Winch
    2.5" lift DONE
    33"s LOLOLOLOL
    Half doors
    Possibly a roof LED bar?

Don't think I need much else after that.

Awesome reverse lights. I bet people will soon be afraid to tailgate you. Either that or they will go blind! lol

Thanks guys! I can't tell if the powder on the grill has already faded the gloss it used to have or if it's just dirty. I should try to shine them up again. And I really haven't had anyone try to tailgate me but if they do they will be in for a surprise! Usually it's me tailgating the idiots who don't get the left lane is a passing lane.

Don't those LEDs hit the rear window when you open the tool box?

Nice work. Clean looking wiring in the toolbox. Next you should add an led strip in the tool box. You could even use a mercury switch to turn them on when ever you open the lid since they turn on/off when you tilt them.

And btw good luck with the wedding planning! My gf and I have been talking about wedding plans more and more

They do but only when the box is fully opened. They don't really affect access to the toolbox at all. I was planning on doing the LED strip idea but to a pressure switch that turns off when the box is close. I also want to throw an LED strip under the box too because I found out the other night how much it sucks ass strapping my bike down at night from the strap points in the dark.

And have you proposed yet Josh? That was a big hit in my wallet and then when I found out how much a good wedding would cost me my jaw dropped lol

Cool. Yea bed lighting (in the right places) is so much more convenient.

Noooo I'm waiting a while. No need to spend money on rings and wedding until I have too lol. She moved in with me in February, so I figured we should atleast live together a couple years before we make it permanent.

Yeah I found tiny LED pods that will work great for those corners and they are cheap too. And I hear you, we have been together for a very long time so it was about time. We moved in together for the first time though in Feb of last year and we'll be together for 7 years come Sept. 1st.

Also did the diff breather mod yesterday and aimed my rear LED's. I looked into the lights behind the grill again and it looks like I need to thin my grill surround some more to make the lights aimable.

So I learned why the stock skid never got put back on. Two bolts were sheered up front and stuck on the cross member up front and one was stuck in the back for the second half of the skid. An angle grinder got the first two off, the last one I may need a dremel.

Finished painting and clearing the free skid I got from Sander:

    Installed the front for now:

Still in great shape, just surface rust mostly.

Ha definitely. I mounted the second half of the skid this weekend. I had to beat the fuck out of the front skid with a hammer to get one of the mounts to line up. I also had to cut the welded nut off on the one part because of the snapped nut and bolt there.

    95F7254A-37DE-4269-A2CE-A6BC2626AC93-308_421ca303a99b483aee09f2077bba6d43f4577a0a.jpg

I also did more trimming, flipped my light mount bracket to center the lights, re-cleared my billet grill, and painted the surround.

    I'll take day pics tomorrow.
