Well if you do paint them again and leave them on, i'll let ya know it was a major PITA masking them off... since the flares are curved the only way to mask them is with like 100 little bits of masking tape and it takes a long time. also make sure you wax the truck before painting just in case any overspray gets on the truck you can get it off with a good wash.

In anticipation of new tires and adding my rear lift, I did a test fit at work of some 285/75/R16 BFG A/Ts just to see how they would fit with my current setup in the front. Pretty stoked to find out they fit just fine! I don't plan on getting BFGs but i just used them for the test fit. I need to do the pinch weld mod and i'll be set to get the 285s. Here are some pics

Did the "pinch weld mod" this morning, super simple and took like 5 minutes. I bent over the little corner part of the pinch weld, but i'll probably have to grind/cut some more of it off when I install the 285s

Well I finished my timing belt/water pump job last week and just got around to posting about it... It was a very interesting project to say the least. Here are a couple lessons I learned/ suggestions for anyone who wants to do this.

1. It's really difficult to access the tensioner without moving the a/c compressor out of the way. If u can, get it discharged before u get started so u can remove it completely from the engine bay. I just unbolted it and moved it out of the way but there was very little room and made it a pain in the ass to get to the tensioner.

2. No need to remove the power steering pump. U just have to loosen the adjuster bolt when putting your v-belt back on.

3. Make sure you have the right tools! U need a good breaker bar and torque wrench capable of 217ft/lbs for the crank pulley removal/install. Ratcheting box end wrenches make the job a hell of a lot easier too.

4. When loosening/ tightening the crank pulley bolt, u can remove the lower torque converter cover and wedge a screwdriver into the starter ring gear teeth to prevent the crank from moving. It can be exceptionally hard to break the torque on that bolt so as I said, make sure u have a nice strong breaker bar.

5. If your up for it, fully remove the radiator. If u have an auto trans, ur goin to lose some ATF when u disconnect the cooler lines from the radiator. I didn't do this because I didn't feel like f***ing with the trans fluid, but it would have given me a lot more room to get tools and stuff in there.

That's all I can think of now, if u wanna do this project just make sure u do ur research and get the proper tools. Good luck guys!
