JohnboyTRD - 2003 Double Cab TRD

Well I tried to find something tall enough to climb on with the truck and secluded enough to not call attention... I failed at both LOL! The loading dock wasn't really that tall where I could get to, and then after taking this pic, some guy asked me to leave

It still looks good. I really need to either buy or build some sliders.

 

Got a chance to test out the new shock location, and I was very impressed with the droop! Here are a few photos. There is some video too of me running the notch, just gonna ask budman before I post them, since he took the shots.

What shackles are you using ? Eylet to eyelet distance? Grease able?

 

I'm not sure the length but they are Toytec adjustable shackles set at the 1" lift setting. These are not greasable. I get a little squeak here and there but it doesn't bug me.

 

Word, thanks man. I'm trying to find a new set of shackles. I'm looking at greaseable, 6" eyelet to eyelet.... stock is 3.5 right?

 

Sounds about right! Every time you double shackle length it is an inch difference right?

 

No, I don't think so. I've always heard for every inch you increase shackle height, you gain 1/2" of lift.

 

That's what it was. I knew it was a 2:1 ratio in some way.i can measure mine tomorrow. Kinda wish I hadn't lopped off the 2" setting, cuz now I don't have enough metal around the 1.5" holes... Stupid that toytec tried to fit 3 options on one shackle. To even try the 1" setting you have to cut off the 2" holes. They should have a 1" and 1.5" version and a 1.5"/2" version.

I have stock length OME greasable shackles that I can measure for you too.

I have the Toytec adjustable shackles.....You're telling me that that's the source of my squeaking?

 

Could be part of it, sure! Also could be the springs or I suppose the shocks? After this wheelin season I plan to take the lead packs out and clean/touch up and grease everything real good... You could try squirting some lithium grease around to see if it helps.

 

Mine squeaks like a mofo. Just getting in and out creaks it. Lowering the tailgate does it also. Very annoying, so I just turn up the radio most of the time!
