Been doing a lot to the truck lately so figured I would start a build thread and it my first post.

Just a little history on the truck, my father bought it brand new off the lot in 02/01. I remember picking it up and riding around in it as a kid. Drove it all through high school and then she was given to me as a graduation gift from high school in 2011. In May of 2012 it had about 180k on the clock and had complete engine failure on the interstate. It sat until October of this past year when I finally figured out what to do with it, this is when it all began and this forum gave me all sorts of ideas and inspiration so lets get started.

How she sits as of 01/04/14

    Engine Swap

The original motor failed at roughly 180k miles back in 2012. Drained the oil and dropped the pan. There was nothing but metal shavings and chunks. So it sat for a year and a half while I looked for a used motor or rebuilt this one. Couldn't find anyone that wanted to rebuild it local and the one guy that would touch it wanted $5,000 just for the rebuild. Found a company in Washington State that deals with crate and reman motors. So 2 weeks later I had a complete long block at the house.

Only picture I have of the truck stock is right after we finished putting the motor in 10/11/13

I was crunched for time so didn't take any other pictures but everything went together smoothly. Sunwest Automotive is where I got the motor from, they are a great group of guys to deal with. Motor failure was due to crankshaft and a rod failure and I had a cracked head.

Had to do a 500 mile break in service and other than a busted radiator hose everything went smooth. Did my first oil change Friday with roughly 3k miles on the motor and she's running great.

Was there any warning to the motor failing? Or did it just blow up on the interstate?
By the way nice looking truck.

Thank you! There was no real warning. I was cruising around 70-75 when I noticed my temp gauge slowly climbing so I let off and started decelerating when a loud ticking noise started. By the time I came to a stop it sounded like a damn monkey was in there with a wrench beating on everything. Before I could turn it off it just died. Never cranked it again and got it towed.

Holy Schmidt the paint is bad on the roof, top of front fenders, bed as well as a dent in the rear corner of the cab on the passenger side. Throughout the body it has scratches and dings
