    I hope so.

There's about 3/4" of threads past the nut and the AAL is about 1/4" thick.

I just don't know how the arc of the AAL is going to affect how much thread will be available. I'd assume they are smart enough to have compensated for that.

I assume I'll have to tighten that nut down as the AAL settles.

Haha man I'm just messing with you, only reason I say that is because I was looking at work today and priced out what my suspension would cost. I'm going for about the same lift as Madjik, with the same tire size. So I'm curious to see how it'll look.

I think with the new purchase I just made, I have more.

That should hopefully diminish this week though.

all I'm gonna say is that Dupli-color Prep Spray is some smelly sh*t! That stuff can get you spinnin' and ready to yack in a hurry. Wear a mask.

lol... very familiar with it - and yes, it's very volatile smelling. I always wear a respirator.

The worst smelling stuff I've ever used was the two-part automotive clear coat. Holy moly.

Well f me in the ass and slap me silly. I just had a walk through done for the wheel painting and I accidentally closed the Tacomaworld tab on my browser.

    Here's the much shorter version:

I'm pretty disappointed with the paint job. It was really tough to get the proper angle that would allow the paint to coat the nooks and crannies of the spokes while laying down an even coat.

I bought the stock alloys off a local member and had them media blasted. With crushed garnet. Not too psyched that they blasted the inner part of the wheel (that is inside the tire once mounted) because I was hoping to keep the factory finish intact to prevent possible corrosion (I'm assuming there's condensation inside the inflated tire due to pressure).

    The line up:
    Duplicolor Prep Wipes/Spray
    Zinc chromate primer (from Napa)
    Rustoleum Primer (Gray)
    VHT Wheel Paint (Satin Black)
    Nitrile gloves (lots of them)
    NIOSH approved respirator

    DSC_0362_zpsf3edb9cc_100909c41cdf3f7bea60c12fc4080d82809ff015.jpg

Got the wheels back from the blaster. They were very dusty and I could see the hand prints from the guy who did the work.

Put the gloves and respirator on. Not only for health's sake but the former will also prevent the oils from your hands and fingers from getting on the surfaces to be finished.

I liberally sprayed the prep spray on the wheels (front, back and sides) then wiped them down with the prep wipes. One wipe per wheel. Let it dry, this stuff evaporates pretty quickly.

Wet with the spray and wipes:

All clean and ready to go:

    DSC_0357_zps08f4b58a_9d1ec06127e01acd396a585ec645b367aca4c2a1.jpg

Then I threw down 3 light coats of the zinc chromate primer (seriously wear the respirator). This stuff dries almost instantly. Every other member's post where they use zinc chromate, it's yellow. This stuff was brown.

After I let it dry for about 30 mins. I threw down 3 light coats of the Rustoleum primer:

Then I threw down 4 really shitty coats of the VHT Wheel Paint. The first 3 were light coats, the last was a bit heavier. You can see the areas in the nooks and crannies that do not look good. I am going to let them cure for 7 days then hit them up with another couple light coats.

Oh, and can't forget the center caps (Rusoleum primer and wheel paint only)

I really do like the sheen of this black. I was always leaning towards flat black but never liked seeing it turn that grayish-purple color over time. And I don't like the gloss look of black because the tires always look faded and dirty next to it... giving it that awkward reverse contrast thing between the tires and wheels.

This sheen is just a bit more glossy than flat black but by no means glossy or even semi-glossy. I like it a lot. Hopefully after I hit it up again next week, the weird spots will blend in more.

Then I just have to get the tires mounted up... wait for the lift to go on... then put it all together.

In the meantime I'm going to refinish my flares, touch up my sliders and front and rear bumpers.

What's in the prep wipes? The way you describe it, I would just assume it was acetone?

What are you gonna do about the wheel finish inside the tire/bead?

Did you decide on what tires you're going with?

Here's the MSDS sheet for the spray: http://www.paintdocs.com/docs/webPDF.jsp?SITEID=DUPLI&prodno=PS100&doctype=MSDS&lang=E

I coated that area of the wheel with 3 light coats of zinc chromate and a light coat or two of primer. But mostly I'm just going to pray.

I bought those Goodyear All Terrain Adventure tires. Trying something new after 20 years of running the BFG ATs.

I really like the design on the outer tread blocks. The BFG ATs design prohibited a lot of clearing out the sides. These have open channels on every block.
