New to the Taco world as of Saturday... I found this RCSB 2001 Tacoma for such a good price I couldn't pass it up. Hopefully you guys can help me get started in the right direction.

I have a 73' Bronco I have built with a vintage Hal Sealund race suspension from the 70's. (Still rides better than my friends LT 04' Ranger) and I'm in the middle of a long travel build for my 05' Silverado.

    2001 Tacoma
    307 Oldsmobile V8/Turbo 350 trans
Unknown long travel suspension - wide as heck
    10" King Coilovers up front
10" Race-Runner Coilovers in the rear (mounted in conjunction of long ass Chevy leafs)
Sketchy bed cage with remote fuel cell
What I believe to be Glassworks fiberglass

How I'm going to fix this...

Bodywise, all the truck needs is windshield, windows, back glass, hood and grill
-Engine runs but I'm swapping it out for a Vortec 350 we have in the
    shop
-I plan on running a complete cage
    -re-doing the entire rear bedcage
    -removing the body lift
-possibly replacing the UCA/LCA's with my own fabbed arms or just
    replacing the balljoints with uniballs

Any thoughts on what suspension and fiberglass I have would be appreciated. I'll get better pics of the suspension later.

I really need to fix the cage and tubing, more for safety reasons than anything. I heard the guy before did the body lift so his cage would clear without cutting into the cab... Not so sure of that though. Half the tubing work is only welded 3/4's around. :smh:

Well, finally got the truck to the shop. Further investigation shows that the entire front end suspension mounts and engine mounts need to be ground out and re-welded. The 307 is up on the chopping block so we're getting the Vortec 350 ready. Once we get the new engine mounts made and the 350 in, the firewall is getting chopped to clear the engine/trans and the body lift is coming off.

The entire bed cage is being chopped out if anyone is interested in it, I'll be back-halving the truck as well.

It was about an hour and a half drive home, didn't move a bit and was very secure. The rear end was held down with a winch cable, chains and a 2" ratchet strap - it wasn't going anywhere without a fight.

I'm thinking I would like to have a full one piece on the front instead of sinking money into a hood and grill. Thoughts?

It's wide enough. I say do it! But I would worry about getting the truck in working order before worrying about cosmetics. Just my .02

I need some rebuild kits for the shocks - 2 are Race Runners(rears) and 2 are Kings (fronts). Anyone have any hookups on some rebuild kits? I think I can do it myself, just need the parts.

Now that I'm mostly moved in to my new house I'll start to tear into this thing. I'll be chopping the rear bed cage off and getting the engine running good first.

Well this sucks, but due to life happening I'll be forced to sell the truck.

$2500 as is with title in hand.

No, and I haven't really had a chance to look at it. Pretty sure it just needs plug wires and the intake/carb cleaned good. The shock towers need to be reworked to clear the exhaust.

I'll try to get some this week. Its just a pair of race runner threaded body shocks with some long chevy leafs tied into the rear cage.
