He had mentioned on the previous page that he was too busy to still be doing the racks. Evidently he's not willing to give out any plans either. No idea on whether he's willing to sell copies of plans for people to do their own racks; he lit into somebody that asked if he could send copies of plans but didn't specifically mention that they'd be willing to pay for them, so it's not clear. He made no mention of a possible price, and they made no offer.

Sorry I can't offer you more info; you'll have to wait until he has a chance to respond. :notsure:

Very tempting! I still need a lot to do to the truck before I can purchase this. But out of curiosity, do you happent to know how the Kukenam fits on the back of a double cab?

Yes the Kukenam fits great on the back of a double cab.

As for the racks..... At some point I plan to get these rolling again. There is just too much going on with too many different things right now for me to be building the racks. I've been looking into possible fab shops that could build them for me, but quality is paramount and I want to find a place I trust to do it right before I decide to go that way. I appreciate everyone's interest in the racks and hope I can be building them again soon.

As for selling the plans, I have tried to be extremely helpful to anyone who has asked about certain details of the racks and I've offered suggestions and ideas for people who are building their own. If I weren't planning to build more in the future then I'd consider selling plans, but hopefully everyone can understand why I do not want to give out those kinds of details right now.

Do you have a wait list like Homer Taco does for his grills? If do, I'd love to get on it. If not, is there a way to know when you start making these again?

If you are subscribed to this thread, I will post here to let people know when I get back to building these. I appreciate the interest that so many have in these and apologize that I haven't been able to consistently keep building these. But working 4 jobs right now isn't leaving me much time to build racks. Thanks for the patience and understanding.

You mentioned a while back that you'd be willing to work with a fab shop if you found the right guy.

We in the Maryland thread have been working with a guy who specializes in Tacoma's and is an active TW member. I can personally vouch for the quality of his work, as can many others over there.

Would you consider trying to work something out with him if I sent him your way?

As far as selling plans, this is a simple, clean design that doesn't need any special tools like a tube bender since it's all square tube. He even says what he uses to make it...
This can't be difficult to reverse engineer..

Your right. It is a pretty simple design that many have already copied, but I appreciate the people that don't take the Smittybuilt approach and just copy what someone else has done. ;)
    .
All that said, I fully realize I'm not able to take orders on these at the moment so if you need to build something, you do what you gotta do.
