Help me value

Hi All,

Looking to sell my '96 Tacoma within the next few months and want to make sure I'm being realistic.

143,xxx miles
SR5 V6
4X4
5 speed manual
zero rust on body
surface rust on frame, no rot, treated with POR 15.
3" lift. spacers up front, AAL in rear.
33x10.5 BFG AT/KO with less than 2k on them (31x10.5's on in the pictures)
Perfect clean interior
Newer brakes
4 newer shocks all around
mechanically perfect

I was thinking $6K or best offer

Any input?

Thanks!

-Andrew

The frame rust will be visually unappealing. Guess i'll start around 8 when the time comes.

Dad got laid off 6 months ago and will be using it until he finds work again.

Originally bought the Tacoma to get me through the winters when I had my car. Have a Jeep Grand Cherokee now, so not a lot of use for the Tacoma.

That...and I want to get a '68 Camaro

Treat the frame again for a little bit of money and ask 9k for it, let the buyer talk you down to 7.5-8k.

If it's as clean as you say it is especially being a New England vehicle, you can safely ask $8k OBO. The early Gen 1's are very rare around here.

No offense, but would you really pay 8k for this? I paid less than that for my old 98 prerunner automatic with less miles 7 years ago. My brother was born in 1996 and I wouldn't pay 8k for him. 6k sounds fair. Stick with that.

It's the rarity of it up here. NE winters destroyed all of the old Gen 1s. I sold my 95.5 SX 4x4 in 2011 w/ 250+k on it, bed rotting, tailgate smashed, and the frame had rotted through (although I was kind enough to properly repair it) for $3,500. The seatbelt re-tractors were junk, the blower motor was shot, I had spilled 10 years of coffee on the carpet and the truck stank like an ashtray. The only plus was it was properly lifted, and was mechanically in really good shape.

It's not about if I'd pay $8k for it...It's if someone will pay me $8k for it.

If that's the going rate...i'll ask for it!

If you ask 8 and get 7 you're still in really good shape! Good luck with the sale!

What kind of job is your dad looking for? Not sure if I can help but I can see if my company is hiring in your area.

His past 30+ years has been spent selling robotic welding/cutting machines and tooling.

He's toying with retirement, just wants a few more years of working before he does. It's been a beautiful summer...so the job search isn't in full swing if you know what I mean...haha

I know the feeling, I hated retirement and could only stay unemployed for a few months. My company doesn't deal with what he does, it's Telecom. Best of luck, if he does need some job leads let me know.

A realistic way to price it is "Blue Book". Go there and fill out the form and you will get a value if sold to an individual or dealer.
To many people think they are going to get some magical amount of money, that is why Blue Book is there. They take everything into consideration.

Start at 8k, better to price a little high.

My wife had a 96 with 170k, 4wd, that was bought back. It was booked at about 6500 at that time 5 yrs ago..but like Kirk said there are a lot of people around here who would kill for that truck
