I built this bumper as a prototype and it has a couple issues that aren't too hard to fix, but I am knee deep in other projects so I want to sell this and build a revised design.

It's 3/16" steel plate with a 3/8" thick winch/mounting plate. Fits most any winch without relocating the solenoid box. Fully welded and gusseted for strength. Toyota is cutout on the front. 1" thick shackle mounts tied into the winch plate. Fog light holes. Herculined and painted black. Mounts with 6 bolts to factory frame mounts. Would fit 98-00 Tacomas with modification to the frame horns. Factory skid plate hole position.

The bad: it sits tilted back when viewed from the side, so there is a small gap between the bumper and grille/headlights that gets wider by the fender. The mounting holes were redrilled to try and combat this, but didn't help much. Also, the side plate is vertical instead of angled to the fender opening. Would be an easy DIY fab project to get it tight and right. I'll even send a small sheet of 3/16" with for the repairs.

12,500 lb Tuff Stuff waterproof winch not included or extra $375.

Shipping will be via either UPS or Fedex (whichever is cheapest), or pick up in Ames, Iowa.

    $400.

I know this is probably a long shot, but whatever. Someone wants a little fall project out there.

Since you built this bumper yourself I give you a free bump and a thumbs up

Thanks. Screwed up in the design phase and this is what happens. As an engineer I've realized hardly anything works perfectly the first time!

its awesome you built this yourself, often things are overlooked or forgotten, there's a reason most products take months/years of development. As a fabricator, you are very correct, ealmost nothing goes according to plan. just about every job i get which has gone through architects, engineers, designers, contractors... still has a ton of mistakes i/ we have to fix.

good luck with the next prototype!

Make the next one about 3 sizes smaller. The prototype looks like it belongs on a Land Cruiser.

Cut the top piece at the sides and gussets, bend it up about 7 degrees, and add material to the sides and gussets to fill the gap you just created. Then butt weld angled pieces to both side plates to flow better with the fender flare.

I didn't know how to do it once upon a time. But I learned as I went, and I'm still learning and forever will be.
