Hi, I'm in North Carolina--I need a good wiring harness for a 1996 Toyota Tacoma 2dr 4cyl. Haven't been able to find one locally.

Smoke came out my vents, lights won't work now, mechanic says I need the harness, yada yada yada.

    Help?

    thanks

Please contact me if you have a junked 96 Toyota Tacoma sitting in your yard--I really, really need that behind-the-dash wiring harness.

    Thanks

Thanks for the help guys--unfortunately I've been told that the wiring harness has to be from the exact year and model. I've hit a brick-wall with every junk-yard I've contacted and Toyota doesn't make them anymore, so I'm getting kinda desperate, figured I'd post here and see what happens. Am also awaiting a few replies from some junk yards I e-mailed on the west coast. There's hope, I guess. I know that there's a 96 Tacoma sitting in a junk-yard (or in someone's back yard) somewhere in America, just gotta find it.

    Thanks

Would a 4x4 5speed 3RZfe 1997 work? It is the base model. If so I am parting one out. I have not taken out the harness but it might work.
    Thanks,
    Charlie

Just caught your message--didn't come back here because I thought I had found one. But nope, wasn't it.

Have never in my life had this much difficulty in locating an auto part.

Had a few possibles which seemed promising but no luck. The few salvage yards that actually seem to have them can't promise that what they have will fit my truck. I've heard "interchange only shows one year, I think it will fit but I don't know" several times. My mechanic--after a couple of weeks of searching--- thought that he had found one at a local junk yard but when the dude brought it to his shop it wasn't the correct one.

I just received one in the mail today from a junk-yard in Washington State, am waiting for my mechanic to let me know if its the correct one this time (I don't think that it is).

Truck has been down over a month---no lights work. At this point I'm thinking about setting it on fire in a youtube video. I'm sick of it.

But hey, if you know where one's at for sure, please do pass along the info, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks

Post your VIN # or PM it to me. I will cross reference with the truck I have access to and check compatibility.
