Ask him for pics of the underside of truck and bottom of doors. If the body and frame are solid that's a good start. Ask him what's wrong with it. Does he have receipts for any work done? What's been done? This is why I like dealing with the owner (private) of the truck- he may actually be honest about it instead of those dealer scumballs. If the underside is a rust bucket-forget it but if it needs minor stuff....you're cruizin'....cheap! You won't know until you talk to him.

That's why God invented over the road Truck Drivers, Nic. You could have that pile sitting in your yard for $1,200, delivered

Them not getting back isn't cuz you're a gal; it's summer people are busy. I understand the low money thing. Hang in there good things come to those that wait. Keep looking, it's out there.

Looks Dangerous, hopefully whoever buys this truck has a sturdy fence to keep it away from the other Tacomas.

I like little projects like this one (if the the body is fairly clean-I see the driver fender looks a little ragged) it gives me something to play with on the cheap.

Don't worry, Nic; a guy finally, after a week got back to me about an item I inquired about.

Can you post the ad here? The a arm isn't bad to replace but I'd like to see the ad. I don't know why people don't put their phone numbers.

I am selling my 95 Toyota Pickup that has a 5 speed 6 cyl motor. Has 123000 miles on it. Truck has lots of new parts incl gas tank, brakes, tires, exhaust. It needs a lower control arm on the passenger side.
Truck runs quiet and shifts out great. Priced to sell.

If this guy ever gets back to you and you can see it don't be afraid to poke your thumb around the frame and look for bubbling of the frame (if the frame is shot, forget it)

Look at the engine for oil leaks (dirt is ok but black greasy crap all over it isn't). Is there engine coolant in the overflow bottle? Is it clean or swamp water?

Pull the engine dip stick out; is the oil clean or filthy and up to level?

Are the shocks new or old (with rust and black oil from leaking)

Look at the front brake rotors (you should be able to see them through the wheels looking straight on; are they smooth or all grooved (you can see the pads too on the caliper) is there meat on them?

Look at the brake and fuel lines; are they rusty, rusty, rusty or fairly clean and solid looking? Look at the brake reservoir in the engine compartment where steering wheel comes throught the firewall; is it up to the proper level?

Rust, rust, rust and black oily crap is what you're looking for.

Does he have receipts for any work done?

    Good like on your hunt!images_1dcb111a5e18b1a29a19a15adf5f0b091fa586d2.jpg

wow i need to take notes, lol thanks. im thinkin about bringing a btl of simple green with me that way if anything is dirty and i cant get a good look at it i can clean it up right quick. it looks ok from the outside, i wish he had interior pics, but even if it is crap thats not bad to replace, but i know to stay away from frame rust, body rust im not so worried about unless its bad and depending on location of it. im gonna have to add all your pointers to my nifty check list, it keeps me from getting excited and foretting to check important things.

Don't worry about simple green. If it's that dirty, that's another reason for him to lower the price because it will have to be repaired....properly.
