I would ask them what is included in their "tune up". Nowadays, cars don't need tune-ups. Just change the oil and other fluids and the truck will be fine. Plus, the miles are really low so really no other maintenance should be needed. Have fun with the truck; they're the best truck on the road!

I'm surprised that the 2003 truck needed new calipers at 42k miles. My 2002 just needed new pads at 90k and nothing on the rear brakes. I've owned it since new.
Anyway, that is not a bad price especially from a dealer.

As for the "tune up", they actually said to just replace the plugs. I guess I'm showing my age by calling it a tune up. As for the calipers and need for brakes at , can't explain that. It was owned by a quite elderly gentleman, so perhaps he leaned on the brakes. I'm feeling better about the purchase. I have visions of my 1990 4Runner that had head gasket hell, so I have been hesitant ever since.

I don't think that this purchase will anything like that one for the 4-runner. From the description, you are buying a great truck. One that will give you many years of pleasure.

I'm picking the truck up on July 8. I have a dumb question that just occurred to me. It's a double cab TRD, automatic, 4x4. I assumed the engine to be a V6? When I looked under the hood, I was looking at the condition as opposed to counting cylinders. Obviously, I'm not mechanically inclined. Also, I searched around the site looking to see what the TRD option included back in 2003? For example, there isn't a towing package on the truck. I don't need towing, but it was just an observation. Thanks for all the help. This is a great site.

I was just in the same situation, an '03 taco SR5 TRD xtracab with 14,300 miles popped up last week. I thought it was a misprint. It wasn't. This thing was also owned by an older guy, driven by his son who worked as, get this, a parts guy at a local toyota dealership.

This truck is perfect! Price was 17.5. In my opinion a good price for THIS truck. Any other truck in the same class and I would have passed but this was just too perfect. Dreaming of that 200K miles, I gladly traded my 02 sonoma (slipping trans, engine knocks, rusty, ol' money pit) and haven't looked back.

If you haven't already, buy it.

All doublecab TRD trucks are V6. It'll also have a V6 emblem on the tailgate. The TRD package, in general, comes with bilstien shocks, skid plates, rear locker, and I'm sure some other things that I'm not aware of too.

I picked up the truck and it's clean as new. I give up, how do you turn on the fog lights on the 2003? I have to remember what the o/d and ect buttons do, from my old 4Runner days. Can't remember. Thanks for all the help.

No fogs, those are the blinkers. ECT changes the shift patterns for when you're towing or hauling something. Overdrive is for the highway; it's just a higher gear.

Yota, thanks for the help and the refresher on o/d and ect. truck runs great. the steering appears that it could be a little tighter, but other than that, the truck looks like new. The light tan is growing on me.
